Aston Villa 4-1 Newcastle United - 19/04/2025

Recommended Posts

All the typical horror shows came out today, Bruno losing his head and just trying to scrap, Isak going missing, lack of pace at the back, huge hole between midfield and the back four exposed, not being able to string a pass together, unwillingness to make changes despite the 11 on the pitch not performing, daft fouls all over.

No excuses either, we blew Palace away in 50 minutes these lot were scrapping PSG to stay in CL.

They beat us with brute force today, far more athletic ability and wining most of the duels. Beat us at our own game basically. It happens, our slow back line was going to struggle here and this run was always gonna end somewhere however the manner of defeat is a bit disappointing for me.

Onto the next.

They have so many more quality options than us off the bench.

They've rolled the psr dice selling a player for a load of cash and then using it to strengthen the entire squad. Also the sale didn't strengthen any other club they may play. It's something we need to look at doing.

At 1-1 Isak had a very good chance to bang it in and it was a poor low and weak shot. Our lads looked gassed front m in minute 1.  They’ve been massively helped by the ref, conned by every dive. They had 2 goals scored off us. And they outplayed us. Seems we were losing this no matter what.

we’ll beat Ipswich next and feel better about life.

Been watching the whole match - hitting posts doesn't mean a thing, just that their strikers aren't as clinical as some depressives would have everyone believe. Our run's caught up on us a bit, fair, but Villa's not outclassed us by any means. They've had massive help from a homer of a ref, we've been given nothing, they've been sneaky and got rewards for it. Hey ho, we've been done today, we've not embarrassed ourselves though.

We've been shite, passive, poor on the ball and too many not at the races.

Apart from Gordon, it pretty much is a massive step down. We really don't have much of a squad worth rotating atm. That'll likely change this summer.

Cant be a massive step down from what has been shown today tbf.

They can call on Rashford, Malen, Onana, Ramsey, Bailey, Barkley, Digne. We have Gordon. It may be borrowed but that bench is light years away from what we can bring on.

As I said rashford is borrowed Asencio is borrowed diasi is borrowed.

Yes the players they have borrowed have boosted the squad but this was purely done because our owners gave them a bag for Duran. And all of these players are on massive wages I might add.

Sure this result sucks and in the short term they have an edge but they will have to aggressively trade to maintain it and our players have had a day off today our best players are better than villas.
