Very lacklustre from us today, 1 game too many probably for the small squad we have.

Similarly to last season we almost fell at the final hurdle due to Isak being burnt out at the end and not fit.

I'll say it yet again ... we'd better focus on sorting out the squad depth for this team or next season is not going to go well at all.

Despite the crap match today we have loads to look forward to: a) Cash to splash in the summer; b) Champions league again; c) Polishing that lovely trophy :indi:

(Thank you Man U)

I’m slightly annoyed that I’m not feeling quite as happy as I should (at this very moment at least)

But Gtfi anyway!

Yeah I feel the same. I'm not sure whether to open that champagne or not.

Also we should be able to retain our star players.

To the actual game, think Eddie got it massively wrong with the formation and personnel. If Trippier could only do limited minutes, I'd have gone for him from the start, with our usual 4-3-3. Willock starting LCM, while not ideal, would then allow Barnes and Tino to continue their partnership.

Gordon coming on as a sub later on for Barnes/Murphy. Course, if things had gone the other way there would be no questions, but think the messy formation changes and personnel shuffles mid game just destroyed any semblance of a game plan we may have had.

Not Eddie's finest hour but fuck it. He's not perfect but he's damn close. Trophy and CL ain't half bad.

And I guarantee that he'll be fucking disappointed with that, and analyze it to death.

I was fuming at the performance and the prospect of bottling it against a mid-table side with nought to play for, overwhelmed with the frustration knowing how good we’ve been this season, but I am very happy that I’ve been made to look like an overreactive clown.

The champions league makes me feel very okay with that, and even if we didn’t make it; it’d still been the best season of my Newcastle-supporting life on reflection anyway.

Football can really carry you away with emotion, though. Fuck me.

They won one and drew one 4 points

Read it again. Newcastle DROPPED 5 points against Everton this season.

The defeat? 3 points dropped.

The draw? 2 points dropped.

While i think you are probably right, i think mainly the problem is just the squad being too small. Whatever Howe does tonight, whether its Willock, Osula or Tripper that comes on, our options aren't great. Impacts off the bench are close to non-existent.

He went for the same system to get his best players on form on the pitch. Unfortunately even with Gordon and Barnes being as bad as they have been for the last month, they still are.

If only Wilson goes we really need 3 players for our attack next season to keep people rotating and fighting for places. A good striker to challenge Isak, a top right winger to be challenged by Murphy, and arguably another player that can play anywhere in the front 3 and challenge them all. 1 or 2 injuries to any of our front players now gives us nothing off the bench and no competition.

At this point I would not be against player trading for our 2 left wingers either. Both of them are pretty inconsistent and as long as we have someone to replace one i wouldnt mind selling if we got a worthwhile fee.
