Ah, the dreaded "confidence a deal will progress" line.

Progress to him joining another club maybe 🤷‍♂️😂

I more meant the stuff about having a range of targets and profiles on our list. Everyone just ignores that stuff.

I love that he’s a non pen goal striker, that he can play the transition game is scary scary fast. He also scores scrappy, unorthodox goals too which we absolutley need. The thing I like about him is that if we sub Isak, we actually have someone who can still put in the back of the nyyyyyettttt

I get it aye, it's frustrating though. I certainly expected and hoped for more, I was under the assumption we would be a far more attractive proposition to players than we seemingly are, and I was hoping for more incomings of the calibre of our better players in Tonali, Bruno etc. Perhaps they will turn out to be, but I'm just not particularly feeling it at the moment.

Aye, I think we were all under the impression that *this* was going to be the window where we finally took off.

PSR

Mitchell leaving
Mitchells replacement not coming in

Being gazumped by other clubs who can pay bigger fees

Shopping for players we know were attracting the attention of 'bigger' clubs

Been a clusterfuck since the end of the season really but there's still some positives.

Sensible signing.

Instant upgrade on Callum Wilson from last season.

Not a crazy price either 30-40m is bog standard for a PL starter these days unless you're taking advantage of someone in the last year of their deal.

Let's just hope the cartel approve this and let us have some breadcrumbs however, experience would lead me to believe that Spurs haven't had their final say yet.

Doubtful this saga ends at 30m.

The resale value thing is a little overblown. Not every player you're gonna get is 23 on the come up and on the cheap.

It's unrealistic to expect huge profits, but you can break even including the value someone like Wissa can contribute to the squad.

Hoping this gets done.

Just seen this. Isn't this half of what they wanted? I mean there's bidding low and there's potentially pissing clubs off by bidding really low. Hope they were given some encouragement and it's not that far off the real figure they want and not the public £50m they said.

1-in-3 PL striker in his prime years for £30m is good business IMO, we'll get 2 or 3 good seasons out of him and then there'll be a way to recoup some cash albeit not selling at a huge profit after that.

He'd be such an upgrade on Wilson as the second striker choice it's not even funny.

In terms of minutes played in the PL, its one in two (45 in 92 games' worth of minutes). Its fair because he was often sub when they had Toney.

As a Wilson replacement, he'd be superb. Wilson himself was 28 and six months when we bought him.

Apologies in advance if I get your hopes up and this comes to nought.

We really have only lost out to Liverpool and Chelsea so far right? And if Trafford goes to Man Blue?

I know what you mean though, I don’t see why players wouldn’t be desperate to come here. It’s just that some have even greater options.

Yeah, it's probably a far more accurate and favourable framing to put it like that, Real Madrid and Man United to be added in there for Huijsen and Cunha respectively.

I'm just thinking of the Tonali, Bruno, Isak deals where we managed to just go out and bring in some of Europe's top talent without much fuss. I even think those players mentioned are of a higher calibre then most we've gone for this summer. Don't know, just expected more, rightly or wrongly.

What we're buying here (if we don't manage to fuck this one up) is what Wilson was when he first came in, but with a bit of a better non-pen goal record, better availability and more versatility across the front line.

Really good point.

We did sign Wilson when he was 28 and he still made such a big impact.

Getting a fitter more versatile version to rotate and mix in with Isak would be pretty good going.

Can play anywhere across the front 3 and has a great eye for goal, it would be an excellent signing while not being super exciting, considering how the window has went I'd be all in for this.

Think they will sell at 30-35 mil. Just have to hope Spurs don't come in because he may want to work with Frank as others have said.

Edit: Aslong as he's not an Isak replacement.

We’ve definitely not been as smart as I expected, just hoping the next level of targets is more gettable.

TBH I’m not sure anyone expected Ekitike to be worth 90m or City to want Trafford back. Pedro to Chelsea is just Chelsea spending at random.

Still think it’s possible the window ends up good but TBH all I can think about is the chance of Isak leaving.

Also the no re sale value thing is bollocks, we got 18m for 31 year old Chris Wood. There's absolutely a world where we sell him in 2 years time for a similar fee (if that's what we wanted to do).

I think its a great signing because its an absolute tap in.

Gordon/Barnes

Isak/Wissa

Elanga/Murphy

Is good depth, for a change. With loads of flexibility too. I'd have no worries about Barnes, Wissa and Murphy lining up a game.

Fucking hell, no way they sell Wissa now surely after Mbuemo and Norgaard.

That's their entire front line.

And manager.

They won't give a fuck. Their model is working to perfection and they probably won't go down because of the standard of the promoted teams. (Sadly)
