The fact hes now being seen in the team photos etc, suggests hes now close.

Ultimately, if the injury is gone, we will start seeing him in the squad. Even if its for a 10 minute cameo.

Do you think next Saturday at Everton or that’s a little too early?

Think the injury is behind him but not yet training with the team does that mean hes still not in full contact training? but think its been reported he is striking the ball.

Needing a mini preseason still doesn't sound like his return is immediate but getting him named in the match day squad giving big nick a break for 10/15/20mins will help even if hes weeks away from a full 90.  Putting elanga or gordon up there hasn't worked.

Its not the same but remember how excited I was to see botman showing clips of him running on grass again only for him to still be miles away from returning.

Coming to home games and supporting the team is the minimum I would expect him to do at this point.

As others have said, he’s way closer than we’re being led to believe imo.

With the options on the bench depleted, we might as well have 10 minutes of Wissa, rather than 2 goalkeepers.

Is he even back training on grass with first team? Because that’s probably still like another 2 weeks away from featuring when he’s doing that.

I don't know where people are getting this idea that if we pretend he's still injured Congo just won't call him up to the AFCON? This is the same Congo who were going to run him into the ground playing 180 minutes with no pre-season.

I think both downie and Hope have said he won’t go to afcon regardless. I forget the context but it was linked to a World Cup play off and his fitness for that.

I think he did have some pre-season.

He trained (a bit) but not sure he played in any actual matches?

Putting the AFCON dynamics to one side, we’re probably trying to avoid a situation where he’s physically fit to play but isn’t that sharp, doesn’t perform well as a result, and people immediately start questioning how good he actually is, and whether he was worth the outlay. I think we can all see elsewhere the negative impact that could have…

He'll be fitter than a butchers dog when he's back in the squad.

Fully trust how we are dealing with this, no need to rush him back in this week, we have 10 games in the next 4 weeks or so, his fresh legs will be so, so important.

I totally get peoples fears that this is another Botman scenario but I don't think it is anything comparable and there is no setbacks.

he doesn’t get a say, DRC can apply via FIFA to have him banned for the duration of AFCON

yeah, they'll defo do that and kill their chances of one of their best players playing for them again. But, that's still a better situation for us than him going.

Common sense will prevail, i cant remember Downie and Hope's wording but it was linked to congo letting him miss afcon so he's firing for the world cup play off.

He wouldn’t refuse to play for DRC again with a once in a life time World Cup possibly. This is a guy that went on strike to get his once in a life time move to play in UCL.
