Where has that been reported? Everything I seen seems to suggest he made the decision as a show of respect towards the club. I doubt they told him he can't go.Ā

Ā

Who said they told him he couldn't go?Ā Ā

Ā

Im not entirely sure why some seem to ignore the idea of conversations and communication.

Ā

Wissa owes us massively for paying over the odds for him, and then theres the fact he hasnt set foot on the pitch.

Ā

It doesn't take much to work out that someone at Newcastle has put pressure on him. In fact, it was reported weeks ago that conversations had already happened and that Wissa was keen on repaying us.

The official line from DR Congo is that he’s not been selected, that’s not him deciding not to go

Why is it his concern what we payed for him?

His price had nothing to do with him, our panic and need to get someone in.Ā

Not sure he owes us like - injuries are part of football.Ā

Either way, happy he is not going and hopefully he is up to speed quicker than the person he replaced!Ā

Believable in that he hasn’t played in months, but also the best narrative for all parties.

This can’t be right, the doom mongers said he’d be going and that he’d have no choice?

almost like common sense prevails.

Ā

great news!

Doom mongers for thinking a player would go and play at a major international tournamentĀ

As mentioned, I think DR Congo will want him fit and ready for the WC qualifiers, and Wissa will be desperate to get started in a black and white shirt, as well as to be up and running for the final UCL games/qualifiers/next round as he said playing in the UCL was a dream of his. There's no guarantee we'll be there next season.

Ā

Probably a sensible decision all round.
