He's as raw as they come but there's potential, and we have one of the best player-improvement coaches probably in world football. He's nowhere near as exciting as the other players we've been linked with but we've proven we can't effectively shop at the top table so the next step down is a sensible move

Howe isn't going to teach him how to finish. The best hope would be that he actually can finish, and we just haven't seen it because he's still raw.

If Jackson (who isn't scoring to his potential and is unwanted by his club) is 80 million quid, that makes Isak (who is at the peak of his game and is very much needed by his club), what, 200 million?

Don’t think he’s peaked yet. Isak that is.

He’s rubbish, Chelsea fans think he’s rubbish and they watch him every week.

Cant believe we’ve let it get to a stage where we’re this desperate. As a Wilson replacement maybebut we’re in trouble if he’s the Isak one.

Really has been a crap summer for NUFC. Madness.

And who do we sign next year? Pretty much every decent striker has moved this summer.

Ekitike, Delap was bought after having one good season. There will be new players with the same profile end of next season. Swings and roundabouts

Samu, for about 30 million more than we could have had him this summer.

I read somewhere that only 1 in 5 of his strikes are on target.

Some absolute shockers in there, and just emphasises that we shouldn't be going anywhere near him.

You can't base things on a video like that - it is specifically designed to make you think he's crap. I'm sure there's an equally convincing video that shows exactly the opposite. Isak missed a few last season - put that video together and you could make him look shit too. I'm not saying Jackson is good enough compared to some of the other names mentioned, but I would wager he will score more or as many as Delap and Pedro next season given a decent run

To be fair, you could make a similar compilation of Isak misses last season, especially the fluffed one on ones.

Some of those in the clip are bad, granted, but some are finger tip saves etc, if it was another striker they would be "unlucky".

I think there's a player in Jackson somewhere but it will take an Eddie masterclass to bring it out. It's definitely a risky signing at the prices being mentioned.

Nobody's good enough to replace Isak so people got to forget that parameter, that's not what anybody is trying to do or calling for.

He would literally be replacing Isak. No one is saying he has to be as good as Isak but I’d be hoping for better than Jackson

Literally just about to type the exact same message, such a dumb video. All strikers miss chances including the very best ffs

I'd probably argue that's the part of his game he could improve most because it's technical. People talk about natural finishers, and players like Robbie Fowler are the prime example of that, but it's still an element that can be coached. My concern would be the mental side of his game - he seems to lack composure in important moments and i'm not sure how much can be done about that

Fair but £60, £80m is top table fees.

If we're shopping at the next step down, the prices should reflect that.

Him and Calvert-Lewin were the top 2 underperformers. Classic that were linked with both of them.

This is exactly my point though. We've looked at finished article players (or near finished article) and they've all been poached. Maybe we're now turning our attention to underperforming players we think we can improve - they're less likely to be poached, and we can use their unrealised potential as a bargaining chip

Underperforming players shouldn't cost a premium though. It's why jackson is such an awful proportion at a high price
