Still fancy our chances here, but I’ve been wrong many times before.

I think he’ll sign. Think Arokodare is his replacement, which will see Isak gone perfect loops GIF

He’d be a quality signing.

He's quite limited imo. Not a player good enough for a CL team who won't improve much either in terms of his game. Not really keen on having two centre forwards who don't/can't run in behind either.

There’s no way you can say this with such certainty given what we’ve seen done with the likes of Burn, Murphy, and Joelinton.

I mean he's never going to get quicker or become an amazing dribbler/creator. His output may improve but I think in key moments it's the kind of player to be found wanting.

Fair enough, that. I think he’s got more about him than people give him credit for and some real core strengths that we’ve lacked for a long while. Hopefully we get him so we can see

All of these are still limited. Maube emove Burn but the other two it's true.

As great as they've been what has really got us 5th and a trophy last season is that gold-dust of Tonali, Bruno & Isak. We are likely to lose one of our gold players, hopefully Nick is another one but that's the level we need to really push us on. The Howe premium on middling talents is great but will only take us so far. We need another gold standard player imo.

I actually think he's a decent player, just not one that strikes me as elite or having the potential to be.

There’s surely no way back?

100% there is - once the window shuts it doesn't serve the player or agent for Isak not to play.

The thing for me is, we saw how many goals Callum Wilson scored in a poorer version of the team/formation we use now. Even pre-injury there’s no way I’m having Wilson labelled ‘elite’ at any point in his career. Woltemade is the elite-level/soon-to-be elite level striker that Isak is/was, it’s the consistent goals and better physical play that Wilson brought we need alongside that now.

It could serve us long-term, though, which is all that matters.

from a PSR perspective?  If we keep Isak now we've a cert who we know fits into the system and gives time for Woltemade to adapt much like Wilson did for Isak.  Then come next Summer let him go.  Larsen whilst he's PL experience would have to learn our system / style of play which takes time.

Think in our system having a target to hit who is lethal in the box is potentially as good as what Isak gives us tbf. We'd obviously be overpaying, but I think tactically Howe could make the fee worthwhile.

From a not letting players take the piss out of us perspective. The latest comments from Howe don’t point to much genuine desire from him or the players to welcome Isak back, but stranger things have happened.

But Callum when he was fit and scoring had that yard of pace ya know?he could get in behind and break lines. Plus to be honest the goal should always be to upgrade at least in terms of potential at least. We should be aiming for a guy who has the potential to be better than Callum was at his peak.

Isn't this what big Nick is? I know Nick is obviously more than that but he seems to be able to hold up play from what I saw. Do we need another guy doing that?

Especially at 65m 130m on two strikers is kinda nuts tbh.

JSL fits the bill for me, but that’s where we disagree. Wissa definitely doesn’t, fwiw.
