Eddie should be playing the clips on repeat to our wingers - just saying do that !! I don't know why they're finding it so hard to find him - he's a big enough target.

They did do it for Isak, I wonder why they stopped?

Oh aye because one regularly gets into those sorts of poitions, the other doesnt or at least hasn't.

I didn't watch them match. How much was he involved in the buildups yesterday?

Yeah he’s dropping deep to get the ball and lay it off but then doesn’t have the pace to get back into the box after that. Howe will obviously have to tweak things tactically in terms of his position and what the wingers do to sort this. He’s still going to have to start games when Wissa comes back so this needs sorting.

Id say the obvious thing would be to move from 433.

Nick has too much to be wasted like that. He can be the fulcrum of our attacking play but we need to change to get the best of him.

Edit.....tbf its been hard to change with no Wissa but Im expecting evolution through to the end of the season.

Because they’re pattern players with the same set moves. It’s like having characters on Street Fighter who can only do one special move. Great when you surprise who you’re playing for the first time, and maybe the second or third, but after 10 games you’ve learned how to counter it.

The return of Wissa could help or hinder him, where never using him as a 10 under Howe. The temptation and easy fix is to drop him and play Wissa.

I’m hoping we get something a bit more creative that enables them both to flourish together, but the league table probably dictates a pragmatic approach in the short term and they’ll be rotated.

He's dropping deep to find the ball - he wasn't doing that nearly as much for Germany

Have you watched them recently ? Possibly the worst German team in my lifetime.

It's up there, but for me the Germany side from Euro 2000 was easily the worst I've ever seen.

That side had no redeemable features whatsoever. They had an ancient Lotthar Matthaus playing in central defence and Carsten fucking Jancker as their main striker. Absolutely appaling team. [emoji38]

Yet in 2002 they reached the final of the world cup (on the back of Kahn and Ballack mind).

He gets back into the box, but the rest of the team is shite and doesn't pass to him anyway.

He's brilliant, simple as.

As a German, I can fully agree with that. O0

The period from 2000 to 2004 was a really bad time. In 2002, a mediocre team stumbled its way to the final.

I must also agree that the current team no longer ranks among the absolute world elite.
And unfortunately, the aura of being a dominant tournament team is gone. Only disappointments since 2018.

I watched the game and Luxembourg were pretty good, could easily pass as a high up Championship team.

Yes, Luxembourg have developed very well under Jeff Strasser. Their recent matches have been convincing, even though they lost. With more efficiency and a little luck, they will win.

But seriously. Toon has a top striker in Big Nick, someone with that certain something other strikers don't have.

He can pull a rabbit out of a hat, he's absolutely not a stereotype, but a guy with surprising moments.

He has what it takes to be a legend.

Wissa is being showered with praise by you all. He still has to prove himself.

Nick came, saw, and conquered.

Outstanding performance.

Now he's had a couple of underwhelming games, and some are already starting to have doubts.

Big Nick will become a legend here and bring us joy for many years to come.

One of the worst officiating performances I've seen in the World Cup was the reason they beat a young and hungry  U.S. in the quarterfinals. That 2002 team was lucky as hell. The 2006 team was the polar opposite.
