Its clear his confidence has fallen off a cliff and I don't know if it'll come back whilst he's here unless its able to click for him here as a striker

Hate to say but can now definitely see him sold in the summer which is tragic because his early days here you can clearly see talent

Last summer (panic buys and poor transfers) absolutely fucked our season but the worst thing is it isn't the first bad transfer window in a while. We haven't had a decent transfer window in a long time and another bad transfer window I can see the regression going much much further.

None of you ever learn, it's a waste of time. If/when he clicks you'll just carry on like nothing has happened.

Oh come on. I like him as a footballer but it’s painfully obvious he’s absolutely shit in that role. He has nothing needed for the number 10 role besides the touch.

How the fuck do you sign a 65m striker and put him in midfield 5 month later, its upfront or nothing for me.

We have no creativity in midfield without Bruno so Howe has experimented with him there but it hasn't really worked.

Today no real other midfield options so had to play. Big Joe needed a rest.

I do want us to get a full preseason with him, and see what next season brings, but I have serious doubts he'll work out for us. He offers absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Not a midfielder and never will be, certainly not as deep as he's playing currently that's for sure. But also doubt he will ever be a successful main striker in a Howe team, I really like him he's talented with bags of potential but if Bayern are willing to spend anything close to what we paid I'd snap their hands off.

It's not his fault we paid 70 million for him though and it's certainly not his fault he's playing in a role that he clearly has no business playing in.

I don't understand playing him in midfield and especially against Man City.

Man City will dominate the midfield but it just completely gives the fight up, playing Wolte against Man City in midfield.

I’m starting to feel really sorry for the lad at this point.  I don’t think he’ll make it in England either way, but fucking hell playing in midfield to be badly exposed is pretty shit

It exposes his biggest weakness, how fucking piss weak he is.

It does, which is absolutely why he won’t make it here in his proper position - but the poor sod just looks lost there.

Was hung out to dry a little here.

Been ill and lost weight Eddie said so clearly was gonna be off it tonight anyways with that in mind.

Then you add in that it's fucking Man City and he is utterly unsuited to playing  midfield against them anyways and his chronic pack of confidence and form at the mo and that's the performance you get.

The fact he wasn't hooked at halftime was the signal to me that a) they didn't care about getting knocked out today and b) he is definitely not playing on Tuesday and they just left him out there as they want to protect other players for their minutes.

With all that said, tonight was up there with the worst we have seen from him, think he lost the ball every single time he was near it and contributed nothing offensively or defensively. Oh sorry forgot he had that shot but the less said about that the better.

Him, Elanga and Wissa worry me massively for future. Theres a long way to go for all of them to look anywhere near the value we signed them for.

You know old co-commentators will say stuff like, 'You can see he's really enjoying his football at the moment'? The opposite of that is true for Woltemade. I think he'd rather be working in TK Maxx.

I didn't agree with him starting tonight. When we played at the Etihad the other week he looked completely lost in the same position, and couldn't influence the game at all.

Then... we do exactly the same tonight, that isn't on him.

That said, the more appearances he makes for us, the more I am sure he just won't make it with us and possibly in the PL.

Genuinely think at this stage, if we can get some money back, as much as poss, and he goes back to Germany, it's probably a good move for all parties.

Agreed.  Starting him was a debatable choice.  Keeping him on after HT was exactly what you said. Not a genuine attempt to win the game - and saving others.

I don’t think he has the mentality to succeed under Howe. Or at least I’m beginning to doubt it.  Similar with the other big money new boys. Maybe it will click next season.
