We've been linked with the young Danish player Victor Froholdt at Porto who fits the bill. Mostly played as an 8 at Porto but has played as a 10 for Denmark recently. https://bold.dk/fodbold/klubber/fc-porto/nyheder/froholdt-til-premier-league-tre-topklubber-er-forelsket I wanted us to sign him before he went to Porto. He's the perfect Howe player. Absolute machine that never stops running. Edit: He's probably to expensive now after being named player of the year in the portuguese league in his first season in Portugal. dcmk
I like him a lot but I would rather we sell. We need someone a lot more mobile to succeed, just don't see it ever working for him here. When we played with Isak up top, the whole team worked well and was more dynamic. It's a night and day difference.

BennyBlanco
Glad he’s staying. There’s definitely a player there - some of his footwork is insane - if Howe can figure out how to use him I think we’re laughing
black_n_white
Would love to see a whole season of Woltemade playing in behind Osula. Improve the wingers and it’ll all be good.

Like the lad (not particularly the player from what I’ve seen so far) and want him to do well. Always said to judge him 100% fairly he needs a pre-season with Howe both physically and tactically. However… IF we received a bid big enough this summer so not loosing silly money on him (was never going to be now hence the article but after a potentially great World Cup as Germany’s 3rd striker…) then I would’ve accepted it and either get a better suited 9 for this division or a better suited 10. Only Howe or Bruno leaving would’ve gutted me. Edited May 21 by LFEE
SUPERTOON
The article pretty much covers all bases tbf. We will keep him, but will sell if we get a good enough offer.

The story doesn't rebuke anything. It doesn't actually say anything at all tbh. If we get a good offer, we'll sell. If not, we keep. Groundbreaking insight. But here's an alternate theory to the season re Woltemade: Eddie has all along been doing the Ted Lasso Jedi mind trick thing, turning Jamie Tartt into a team-first total football player. Setting Woltemade aside, Eddie tanked the season stubbornly clinging to a 4-3-3 that seems to suit absolutely nobody on this roster well. It wasn't just Woltemade, nobody thrived in it. Nick was just the most visible poster child of the overall ineptitude. "I can promise that he won't be 80 metres away from goal with us. If we're playing 80 metres from goal, he won't play." I don't think Eddie was deliberate or malicious, just stubborn. Hoping our last game is the same lineup and 4-2-3-1 as last week. Best we've looked as a team in a long time. We should have been doing this since our three week break.

I mean that's demonstrably bollocks isn't it? We've been playing 4-3-3 for years, had success with it and it suited everyone in the squad. We've had a poor season by our own previous standards. But that is down to Woltemade replacing Isak, not because everyone suddenly became unsuited to the formation

Our keepers have been shite, but there's been increased pressure on our defence all season because we've not scored as many goals.
