Olympique de Marseille 2-1 Newcastle United (25/11/25) | post-match from pg. 56

Never really given it any thought before but is Gordon completely useless on his left foot? His shot which was saved was begging for a cut in on the left and then he just flat out refuses to hit it with his left after Willock’s ball.

We are away to the second best side in France, arguably one of the toughest atmosphere in Europe and weve absolutely matched them.

Its been tactically brilliant. Formation looks great. The inclusion of Willock has been fantastic too.

Weve got some real strength to bring on too. Joelinton is made for this second half.

Livramento locking off their right wing.

Apart from that Rapeman cross that Aubamayang should have headed in.

Too many poor final balls.

If Wissa was fit we'd be laughing.

Were not Man City. Were competitive, not distinctly better than, nearly every team in the champions league and the premier league.  Were 4th and winning away from home but the other team has had a few chances and we've not been excellent and it borders on an outrage

We'll likely concede if we play that passively in the second half. They had too many clear chances and the same second half will be very risky.

I'm not a fan of ceding quite that much possession and territory for that long. Still, it's working out well so far.

I missed the goal. We look dangerous in the counter.  Seriously. But we’ve also been sloppy in possession, barely had the ball and Marseille should’ve scored at least 1 by now

As should we.

Tactically, I can completely get the plan, and it's kind of working, every time they've had space to run into they've looked really dangerous, especially Greenwood, so sitting back and breaking with pace makes sense, and its worked a fair few times, it just feels fraught with danger, as it requires more work which means we're likely to tire and make mistakes, like the Tonali clangor. So as a fan, its feels awful to watch.

I swear if you just read the comments on here you'd be convinced we were losing 3-0.

Really, don’t see it.
Yeah a lot of frustration at Murphy and Gordon due there mistakes, but other than that seams fair and even.

It's a weird one, we look like we could easily score another, but they look nailed on to score at some point, they are pushing us to the brink.
