For most other pair of teams I would agree.  It should be a 0-0. But Spurs and Newcastle - nope?

I expect us to go back 5 and try and keep a clean sheet too.

We'll be asking for trouble doing that.  These are shite go at them.   Score 1st and they will shite themselves.

I've been told that if we leave our spiritual home, sell our soul to the money gods of football and price the working classes out of the stadium, that one day we can aspire to be another Tottenham.

Just me that's quite positive about this one then?

Man City away in a tie that was almost already lost is one thing. But even though they are decent Brentford at home was a bit of a kick in the pants so I hope / expect to see a bit of a reaction here.

Yeah, be careful not to sell your soul to the money gods of football.

On that part, sadly, there is no longer any choice :)

At least three of London's seven PL clubs (assuming we can class Croydon as London) still remain in their spiritual homes. Well done to them. For now.

We largely had no choice in the matter. [emoji38]

You think we do? Just responding to the post. Was…quite a statement . I won’t flat out criticise a fan of Newcastle because they’re owned by the Saudis because as you say - you don’t have much say in the matter. Just, maybe you have to  be a bit more circumspect with criticism now . Not you, obviously.

We’re still in our spiritual home though I would argue. Ironically Arsenal are not, but that’s another story,

Romero's suspension, Udogie's injury and the fact they played on Saturday for over an hour with 10 men gives me hope. Their crowd will be so important though, if we can start strong and go ahead it'll turn toxic (hopefully).

Must be me I guess in that case. Just say it man

As it happens my post was tongue in cheek based on some things our CEO has been saying and not really criticism as such. Tottenham are just the best example given what's happened since increasing your capacity to get tens of thousands more prawn sandwich eaters into the ground.

I can however understand your touchiness given the state you're in

Are we starting to slip to a relegation battle if we get beat? I mean people are saying that spurs could be in danger and we have only 4 points more.

No

I think West Ham will almost certainly gain points on us over the next two rounds of games but it's very unlikely we'll get sucked into anything. We need to win like two more games to be safe.

No I don’t think so. It’s obviously the bottom two plus one. West Ham are on a bit of a roll but have some tougher games coming up, Leeds are starting to put things together, but both they and West Ham (and Forest) have terrible GD. Palace might get sucked in too.

I think it’s one of them plus us. Our biggest problem is obviously not knowing who’s going to be available for any games d/t injury and the extra pressure being put on the remaining fit players because of that and the CL. You’ve been through this before - at this point all you need is a couple of things to go against you in a couple of games and you can be right in it - but with the injuries we’re already there. Then youu  add in those little things. It was a pretty even game at Old Trafford until the red but then suddenly that game’s gone and now Romero - our club captain - is out for four games.

I think we’re going down, but one win could turn it around.

We aren't getting relegated.

But how many points will 17th need to stay up? For the first time in a long time, 17th might need  38 points to stay up. The last team to get relegated with as much as 37 points? Newcastle United.

Think West Ham got relegated once with 42 points. History might repeat itself

Nah outside of the bottom 5 only Palace are in any real danger and that's due to the environment (maybe Brighton who have been awful but I doubt it). Spurs will win 3 games.

We're not going down man. We'll likely start grinding out points again once we're out this ridiculous 2 games a week cycle and get a few players back.

Would probably play the kids against Villa at the weekend, rotate the first team against Qarabag and City, then try to have a proper push from the Everton game onwards.

Really? That feels incredibly pessimistic.

You probably need what, 7 or 8 more points from the remaining 39. You’ll get that no bother.

I know it’s hard to see clearly when your team is in a bad run, especially when you seem to lose another player every game, but there’s very, very little chance of you going down.

edit - obviously I hope you’re even more convinced of it come Tuesday night…

It just has a lot of the hallmarks of a big team going down. The injuries are genuinely insane. Kulu and Maddison may miss the entire season and Bentancur and Davies almost certainly won’t be back. Danso did an injury I’ve never even heard of before in an innocuous way against Frankfurt, and apparently may not play again this season. Bergvall is out until April at least, as is Kudus.

I looked at the injury table and we have at least twice the amount of injuries as every single team except Chelsea and Man City (and nearly twice as many as them anyway). Then you zoom in and their return dates are mainly 8-13th Feb I.e. this week. We’ve got several key players missing for months at a time. It’s just not sustainable.
