Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to Zadok Yohanna
By now, Zadok Yohanna should've somehow realised what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about Zadok Yohanna now

And backbeat, the word is on the street that the fire in Zadok Yohannas heart is out
I'm sure Zadok Yohanna heard it all before, but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about Zadok Yohanna now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to Zadok Yohanna
But I don't know how

Because maybe
Zadok Yohannas gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my Zadok Yohanna

You nutter,

I hate myself for always cracking up at this bit .

"A major battle is underway for Nigerian wonderkid Zadok Yohanna, with Premier League giants Newcastle United making a huge move to secure the signature of the AIK sensation.

Sources close to the negotiations reveal that Newcastle have submitted a package worth up to €30 million, consisting of €25 million guaranteed plus a further €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

We can exclusively reveal that it’s more than what Brighton who were reported to be closing on his signing offered for his signature. Although they have already agreed personal terms.

The offer is understood to be one of the biggest ever made for a player from the Swedish Allsvenskan and places Newcastle firmly at the front of the race for the 18-year-old winger.

The development comes amid growing interest from several European heavyweights, including Real Madrid, Bundesliga clubs and top Ligue 1 sides, all of whom have been monitoring the rapid rise of the Nigerian star.

Sources indicate that discussions between Newcastle and AIK have accelerated significantly in recent hours, with all parties working towards a potential agreement. There is growing belief that the deal could be concluded within the next 48 hours if negotiations continue to progress positively.

With Newcastle now making a statement offer and other major clubs still closely following the situation, a transfer battle is reaching its decisive stage."

Fuck me, I thought the Ronnie Gill’s website was shit but step forward Own Goal Nigeria. More pop ups than a posh cunt food festival.

I know we need to make this sort of signing, but it's the first big bit of proof that we're closer to the Brightons & Brentfords than the Cartel (yes, cartel, Froggy). Sad, man..

Yeah, as much as I like these signings, we would potentially be looking at a clear downgrade of our ambitions in the short term.

I'd hope we can have a baseline of these signings and still add a couple of players who will lift the quality as well.

2-3 years time if he's smashed it, Man Utd, etc will just come along, pay £60m because they can, double his wages because they can, and that's that. It's fucking shite.

Depends how optimistic you are I guess.

Do we want the likes of Brighton and Brentford etc to take the risk and get the reward when they are right and we are quoted 40/50/60m in a few seasons time when they look to sell or do we jump in now with the fee that's maybe worth a gamble and either keep them and spend less or flip ourselves.

I don't think we can do one extreme to the next mind they all can't be hot raw prospects as they will not all work out.

It's one young player to add to the squad man [emoji38]

Unfortunately Newcastle don't have the luxury of bringing through the likes of a Saka, Foden, Mainoo or Reece James from their youth setup, and so buying some of these sorts of talents for the squad is necessary.

All those other clubs have talented youngsters that they have brought through that contribute to their teams.

Brighton are ridiculous. All they do is just sign young payers and then move them on before they mature. I don't see any senior top players there like Bruno etc.

It feels like that Rick & Morty episode with his mini universe thing. Rick is the cartel, we have the means to be bigger and outgrown them but no, back to our little box we crawl because they'll not allow anything different.

If we're in a position to spend that much on a project player then superb. I can just see why we paid £100m on Elanga & Wissa, in the hope they'd replicate their previous season's numbers for us and keep us treading water in the top 5 or 6. This just feels like we're accepting the 7-9th place model.

Personally I can’t see why we spent more than 100m on the two. I really really can’t…

I don't think we bought them expecting them to be worse than the previous season

We should probably look into this in more detail.

I'm in favour of cheaper and smarter singings of course, we've just always said that the south coast spreadsheet clubs have a league position ceiling that we have higher ambitions than.

So we either need some of these signings to really blow up or we need to also shop in a higher bracket at the same time.

Or (again) we need to be patient with our progress up the table.

I just replied my thoughts on what he said. Nothing to moan about. Also no interest to continue talking about it in detail!  I got the uncanny irony of it though.

Yeah, certainly looks like a Brighton/Brentford play than a “break into the cartel,” one even if the ambition is meant to be higher. Those clubs have great models, but they’re not really built for sustained top-end competition. The frustrating part is PSR effectively forces everyone, to some degree, into similar constraints unless you’re already at the very top.

We would have been thinking we're buying sure things. Both to get around 15-20 g/as like they did the year before. We'd have pissed 4th if they've managed even half of that. That would have been worth a £100m spend or whatever it was.

We're not a team of just these sorts of signings though, we're mixing them into a team that already has established players for squad depth. Rather than relying on the likes of Murphy and Willock going forward.

This is not what the likes of Brighton do at all.
