It is simply not the case that other clubs read a Romano tweet about us being after a player and jump in to sign them.

They have been talking to his agent the whole time, and the holdup in "completing" the deal was simply his agent stalling for time while calling Liverpool to ask if they won't trigger his release clause.

If we had triggered his release clause two weeks earlier, than Liverpool would have just signed him then. There is realistically no way for us to sign any player if one of the "big clubs" has an interest in them, and we are going to get beaten to signings more often than others because we typically go after a better class of player, because we aspire to be one of the "big clubs" ourselves.

If there is incompetence baked into this process it is only because we are targeting good players to begin with, when perhaps we should be aiming lower.

Our squads getting weaker and weaker every season yet we're not getting any more competent at the top to put it right, every time we get "played" as some put it we always seem to be just below the release clause. This investigation last summer hasn't gone well so far.

Do they even fucking need him . What a fucking joke. All of our targets constantly hoovered up by the cartel. Really sick of this shit

They are not only picking off our best players but also hoovering up all our replacements - you would think we learnt our lesson to act quickly.

Tbf you’d know there and then whether he wants to come when it’s activated. We’ve fannied about again, it’s as simple as that

By all accounts a lower fee was agreed by all parties so why would triggering the release clause have made a difference?

 ffs. I’m out.

It’s just getting embarrassing now.

Obviously I don’t know the ins and outs but we have a reputation now of being the placeholder before being absolutely pied off, like every time. Any time we line up something positive we get cucked by a cartel team. So fucking sick of it, man.

How could this be anyone at the Newcastle’s “fault” is beyond me.

We got fucking used. Again.

Call the players bluff, activate the release clause, sign here….no? Fuck you ad your agent. Better than being passive.

They made a 'late move' man - we just procrastinated on this deal
