Leazes1986
I'd have Milner as one of the mainstays in the team now. I've been very impressed with him this season, but i've always rated him anyway. I couldn't believe it when we were gonna sell him to Villa.
AyeDubbleYoo
Don't want to sabotage the thread, but how about your best teams with our current squad and 3 realistic summer signings?
Skirge
Compition for places is a healthy thing to have at any club. Could we risk this lineup? ------------------Given -------Taylor----Gooch-----Edgar Nobby-------------------------------Zoggy ---------Milner------------Parker -------------------Dyer -------Owen--------------Martins
AyeDubbleYoo
I've always thought Zoggy would make a good wingback, nobody seems to use the 3-5-2 much though - it would take a brave manager to make that sort of change.
Leazes1986
Depends who goes down for me so i won't single out players but i will say a right back, left back and centre back (Gooch if he impresses) to partner Taylor. The foward 6 are excellent. If we could only sign 3 players in the summer though then i wouldn't sign a right back. I would sign a left back, centre back and a striker. Nobby is more than capable at right back and although ideally we would sign a natural right back, i think the other 3 positions are more urgent for us. Yorkie
Quite shocking how many people are still keen to see a Parker-Emre centre-midfield combination, when it is so unbalanced and highlights the better players weaknesses. The better player being Emre, when he is told to sit, he doesn't effect the game and resorts to rotten long balls and poor cover of the defense. Given Solano --- Taylor --- Onyewu --- Edgar Milner --- Butt --- Emre --- N'Zogbia Martins --- Owen Subs: Harper, Ramage, Parker, Dyer, Ameobi
Guest JamesD
i think barring the left back, we have the same line-up, YG.
Gallowgate End
two commanding centre backs and ball playing right back in Solano with Parker holding and breaking up the play the role he got player of the season for us under Souness, Dyer bombing on through central midfield and Milner and Duff with the width and service for Owen and Martins runs. ideally if we could get Jonathan Woodgate back in the Summer would be a fantastic addition to play alongside Steven Taylor but apart from that i like our fully fit first team maybe Gareth Bale left back also but in terms of a fit first 11 we don't need to spend millions and millions just Jonathan Woodgate and Gareth Bale would be great and a couple of impact players off the bench is what's needed to add to our fit first 16 to take the team to the next level. ------------------------ Given -------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- ------ Solano -- Taylor -- Onyewu -- Babayaro --------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- Parker ------------- ------------------- Dyer -------------------------- ---- Milner ------------------------------ Duff -- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Owen -- Martins ------------ Subs: Krul, Bramble, Emre, N'Zogbia, Ameobi

Doug
Leeds Magpie ! Spot on, you stole my team. (toss up between Duff N,Zogbia) whichever is on form.
Yorkie
Well he's useless in midfield so he should be on the bench or upfront if there's injuries. Key player this season, hopefully will not be so next season.
Skirge
Dyer - right wing- up front- behind front 2. any of those three roles he cna be used in.

Cajun
No Milner in the squad? Course not he was only more productive than any of our midfielders last season and is probably the same this season, why would we need someone like that in the squad? Cronky
A Chelsea style 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 - ..............Given Solano Onyewu Bramble Duff ........Parker...Butt....Emre ............Dyer.....Milner .................Martins Subs - Harper, Taylor, Owen, Shola, Babayaro It's nice that it's actually quite a difficult choice. It might be better to put Taylor at RB and switch Solano to replace either Butt or Parker. And no, I don't think Owen and Martins will make a good combination. They both need to play as the more advanced forward.

Dr. Nguyen Van Falk
Dyer is a pain in the arse isn't he? Where the f*** does he fit in any team? Aye, the kind of player you want in the team but can't find the room for him. Depends on who/were we are playing. Home: Given Solano Gooch Taylor Baba Milner Dyer Emre N'zog Owen Martins Away: Given Solano Gooch Taylor Edgar Milner Butt Emre N'zog Owen Martins
Nate
Given Solano Taylor Onyewu Babayaro Butt Emre Dyer N'Zogbia Martins Owen Subs: Krul, Edgar, Parker, Milner, Duff It does lack width but Solano and Babayaro (who'll hopefully be replaced in the Summer) get forward enough for it to work. I'd want Dyer, N'Zogbia & Martins interchanging roles throughout the game, with Emre & Solano provding the through balls. Plus, having two deep lying midfielders would relieve the attacking quartet of any defensive responsibilities. I think Dyer is ineffective wide right and N'Zogbia often looks more comfortable cutting inside - certainly worth a try when Owen returns.

Yorkie
Nope. There due to the versatility and the being-better-than-Bramble-ness.
