Morons. Probably 1/3 mackems, 1/3 nimbys who don't live here, 1/3 local nimbys.

A landscaped approach in front of the listed Leazes Terraces to a new ground would be a major improvement to the city.

I think 1/3 mackems is a bit undercounted. They have been encouraging each other for weeks to object on that sad flick page of theirs...

Hope a geographical search is done on each objector and okly those within a small radius considered

A Change page has no baring at all on any applications. The only thing they will take into consideration would be any made to planning application on the planning portal. Even then, they have to take things into consideration, and can’t just reject it because it will make some people unhappy. There needs to be lawful reasons why they reject the application.

Additionally the council will be aware that there will be a lot of people unhappy with it, and that some of those may have anterior motives, which rally weakens the legit concerns. So a large pushback wouldn’t be unexpected.

They would also presumably have pressure from central government to back a scheme as well.

Iconic my arse.

The Wembley twin towers were iconic.

The Eiffel Tower is iconic

Marilyn Monroe is iconic.

The Coca-Cola logo is iconic.

The South Stand at Villa Park is not iconic.

Boils my piss when people don't understand what iconic means.

Just watched the Villa Park video. Would be absolutely gutted if we wind up with something like that if they were to go with a Gallowgate End redevelopment.

It looks like some cladding, a few extra seats and and an internal Stack.

Zero to get excited about for Villa fans there.

Hope NUFC don't be getting any ideas after watching that.....

That stand just feels like a stop gap that will never be improved upon.

Villa are on the cusp of cementing themselves as an elite club domestically. I think that a stand rebuild still doesn’t address the needs of modern stadia required for such a team other than an increase in supporters, which is modest.

Aston Villa should have either been looking at a new stadium (understandable challenges if they go for a new site), or a total rebuild of Villa Park.

I can’t help but think that if/when we get our new stadium off the ground, they’ll be looking at it with regret and envy, just as much as I do with Spur’s stadium, or some of the newer NFL ones.

A redevelopment like that probably is better for the matchday experience, keeping the character and experience of the old stadium.

But, from a PSR perspective, what clubs like us and Villa need are new stadiums that are designed from the ground up to maximise corporate and alternative revenues, with proper fans being a bit of an afterthought.

Not a very generous way to look at it. Hopefully we’ll be fitting a lot more real fans in too.

What doesn’t it address? More seats, bigger concourse, more bars/bogs no doubt. I cannot see what else is needed.

Don’t think it looks the best internally, would’ve been class one big, steep stand. However, I don’t think it’s horrendous. I would much rather see us redevelop than move to a new build, and I don’t think Villa will regret not doing that.

Everton fans’ opinions in a season or two time will be interesting.

Villa Park is a much nicer stadium than Goodison too and I think if 50,000 is big enough for them then this is a good move.

Our redevelopment is obviously much more tricky and would likely mean an expansion of level 7 over the Gallowgate. Unfortunately, this just isn't going to give the fans or the club what it needs. If PIF will provide a state of the art new stadium, we'd be crazy not to take it.

Villa Park is a class ground, glad it is getting redeveloped. Shame they have a phobia of away fans in the nearby bars.

Makes me wish it was viable for us to do so at SJP.

One of the worst away days if you head to the stadium area for a few pre match scoops. Witton I think they call it, fucking tragedy.
