But the simple fact is that to get this passed, it would be an exchange as we've already talked at length about. The greenspace and subsequent maintenance would be down to the club to present to the council to get the agreement to build. The new park would take some time to establish - trees/hedgerows, but lets not kid the financial element of having a bigger stadium and more revenue into the city, let alone the revamped, nicer greenspace than Leazes currently is. Entirely daft protesting to the council about something which hasn't been announced, and public surveys, which require no real vetting or quantification, are a moot point. They also require a significant amount of signatures for anyone to even think about caring, not some mackems and a few people pissing their pants. I think if the club establish a way of meaningfully looking after the city parks it could be a win-win. Job creation, better parks, less pressure on the council. The thing I really notice about Newcastle is how little green space is really accessible in the city centre. Less than most parts of London I would say. Even if it was somewhere further you would still need somewhere for fans to gather before or after the games. The northern English cities just don't have meaningful green spaces in their urban centres in my experience. Leeds and Manchester in particular are God awful concrete jungles imo.
