For those who aren't that good at maths, that's 10 whole years away. A decade. Looks like we ain't getting no new stadium boys and girls.... It will be the new stadium, a proposal hasn’t officially went in yet for the women’s World Cup, and even when it does they’ll not go public on a new stadium that hasn’t been announced yet. More chance of winning the WWC bid if they included the yet to be built but brand spanking new Sven Adult Books Magpie Megadome on their list, rather than the battered old rustbucket we've got currently

It’s less financially viable to increase capacity and redevelop SJP though. Unless it was demolished, pitch turned 90 degrees and they went with Aviva Stadium type solution to get around the light issue with Leazes Terrace. OverThere
We need another study to decide whether we need a study into the possibility of thinking about a new stadium.
Anderson
There's 22 stadiums in the bid, it doesn't really mean anything at this stage. Be typical if Man U manage to use this as an excuse to secure public funding for their Big Top mind.

Another way of looking at it is that Man Utd’s stadium as it is now is in the bid. Birmingham’s which no one is convinced will happen as seen is in the bid. Chelsea’s in case they get Earls Court is in the bid.

A successful BC could be a big club. Successful is very hard to get to though. If they’re 13th in Prem, grinding out wins / getting whipped occasionally, that’s never going to fill out a 60k stadium. Once you approach 60k mark, you are tipping into tourism, especially so if your base level is substantially lower. Be a white elephant a stadium that size for Birmingham. Good for the city though. Keegans Export
Saw an article said that their cash reserves was about $60bn. By no means a small sum but they're not going to use 5+% of that to build us a stadium. Edited November 28, 2025 by Keegans Export
