I can't answer that, I also don't get it. The history of the club and the stadium doesn't change we can look back with great fondness and appreciation but personally I want to look forward and compete and stick it to those other clubs.

Is it not fair to say it's been explained a canny few times now? I thought the two camps were at the understanding each others' different perspectives stage tbh.

I really don't think the stadium is a big part of our identity to be honest. Yes, the location is key to our identity, with the city centre buzz and the pre/post match pubs, but the actual stadium is not. It has changed so much from it's original format and moving the stadium footprint a few hundred yards up Barrack Road will not change much.

 

A new stadium is exciting and will propel the club to the next level. 

 

Fingers crossed that is the choice they go with.

It's all down to each person. The stadium is without question a big part of our identity to me and others. For others it won't be, there's no blanket statement that you can apply to the whole fanbase.

I think that the majority of people who support Newcastle United have come to realise that (sadly) staying at the current St James' Park would condemn our club to perpetual 'relative' mediocrity.

 

Moving to a new stadium holding (hopefully) 75,000 people, that is almost in the same City Centre location as SJP (just a little bit further into Leazes Park) gives the supporters and the club the very best of all worlds.

 

Significantly, we will then be able to start making progress against the Cartel of the Sky 6 and the Premier League.

 

It will be G L O R I O U S !!!!!!!!!

The team comes first every single time. Every stand has been replaced and we don't even own the land it sits on. I've been attending games since 1973 when the East Stand opened and I'm still waiting to see us win something. Thankfully the owners and the majority of supporters realise what is required to take the team to the next level and beyond

I can't remember who it is on here, but someone talked about having a "lucky ritual" of only entering the East Stand through a very specific turnstile and they'd been doing that same thing for decades. To break the ritual would mean bad luck

 

At the time it was suggested that their ritual had achieved absolutely fuck all for NUFC and it was therefore pointless

 

It's interesting how people will cling to things because it's what they've always known or done, rather than seeing change as a potential harbinger of positivity

Looks like it will be May, they've been held every 6 months so far, last one was in November.
