I'd love our ground to almost be more European like, steep stand with standing to improve atmosphere, modern but not too corporate. No fanzone or any of that shite, a modern day fortress but ability to cater for everyone.

Thing about the camera facing the Milburn stand is that the main view would be the press boxes and director’s seats. Not a big deal but would feel weird looking at that rather than actual fans.

Yeah would be terrible to change it round. You’d lose the view of “NEWCASTLE UNITED” lettering too.

Hopefully correcting the font of that lettering happens over the summer too.

You’d think that a new Gallowgate would have a new Shearer’s style bar. Imagine all the land remaining being used as an outdoor peeving area. Be class in the Summer. Much better than the 20 metre bit there atm.

Now that most people agree this new development is pointing to an expanded Gallowgate, what are the issues in doing that? I thought apart from this mess with the land, we also had problems with the Metro lines underneath among others. Saudis going to buy the Metro too?

And someone mentioned the Euros earlier. Let's say England do get it and SJP is hosting, how fast do we need to start work on the Gallowgate to get it done by the Euros? I'm sure the stadium of shite down the road is the alternative if we can't guarantee any expansions to be completed on time.

The metro thing is not something that stops you, it's "just" an engineering challenge, meaning increased cost relative to what it could have been if it was straightforward. And since money is clearly not an issue here now I don't think there's much to consider. Might increase a bit planning time as well.

With the club now having the proper resources and no problems with the local authorities like you could to navigate elsewhere in the world, I see this going really fast. And it's "just" an expansion so I don't see construction time being that long either.

Was that to be 'paving' or 'perving'?

I'm good with either  or both

Geordie (and Scottish I think) slag for drinking.

Not sure we need a drinking/fan zone area near the stadium. Love the amount of pubs within a short distance of the stadium as it is.

That's a new one to me, thought it was a typo.

Yeah agree, would much rather people filling and supporting pubs than in something like that.

What's the fastest people think we could realistically have the Gallowgate extended? (from now to completed)

The Riverside Stand at Fulham is almost done I believe and was started in Summer 2019. So that probably gives an idea of timeframe.

Aye but they literally had to fill part of the river in and hire a specialist river boat crane.

It has also looked complete for about a year now, but looked like they haven’t been bothered to add the seats in.

So assuming the developer hasn't carved out some land to keep, everything in green is the land the club will have bought back.

I'm assuming the small slithers of land is something to do with the metro lines though

Can you check the land where the Barker & Stonehouse store is please?

Apparently the club have bought it.

There's a mortgage dated 2018 still over the land, and no pending applications to transfer the land, so highly unlikely they've bought it

That doesn't really look like it buys you all that much space TBH, but I don't understand structural engineering too much.

It does when you stand there and look at how big the plot actually is

It could be larger.

A lot of the land around there has been carved up and without paying for the title, I can't see who actually owns, but I'm assuming the developer does.

Like that piece of land is where the memorial stuff is, and I'm assuming that was sold off by Ashley.

That piece of land is also on a separate title, which again I'm assuming was bought by the developer.

Will be a lot easier to see what they've bought when they submit their application to the Land Registry. I'd imagine they'll merge all of the titles.

Any idea why the square of red (amongst the green) isn't included? If that square, which on google maps looks like a combination of trees, car parks and steps to the metro, was included we'd have a decent chunk of land to use.

It's on it's own title

Again probably owned by the developer.
