Think the one extra seat would be the newly installed seat for the mighty pigeon up in the Gallowgate.

You not had the email about the ballot?

I think the one seat went to Tyneside life man. It's a special seat that is in the middle of the road between the east stand and leazers terrace. Apparently if he sticks his head up his arsehole he can get an idea of what is happening in the ground

Stadium expansion is official and has already happened.

Wasnt that a Bob Murray thing? He always wanted the SOL to have one more seat than St James

Hopefully we get some news soon about the club plans regarding the stadium. Man Utd targetting by end of the year to make their minds up about their own stadium plans, surely we also have some kind of time frame to atleast get plans discussed?

Mind you, if they can envision a new 100000 capacity stadium, I guess we should atleast have 70000 if we were to move too?

They've owned the club for almost 3 years now, and whilst in that timeframe I wasn't expecting any new bricks and mortar I must admit I thought we might have had some indication of what they were planning to do regarding SJP, whether that's an extension and a tart up of the place or if a new site had been identified. It all seems to be moving at snails pace. Frustrating for the 1000s locked out every match!

It's a couple of weeks since Eales said in his interview that stadium news would be "iminent" so hopefully we should be hearing something very soon.

He never said fans would hear about it imminently, he said that they hadn’t received the feasibility study yet and that they were due to receive it imminently.

This should end any talk of using the empty land by the Arena

The regeneration of a brownfield site in a prime location on the banks of the River Tyne has received a £5 million funding boost from North East Mayor Kim McGuinness.

The Forth Yards site, situated to the west of the city near the Utilita Arena, has been earmarked for development for years. However, viability challenges, access constraints and infrastructure requirements have prevented the private sector from bringing it forward.

North East Combined Authority, Newcastle City Council, Network Rail and Homes England have been working collaboratively to drive forward the transformational regeneration of Forth Yards.

Now North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and the Combined Authority Cabinet have agreed £5 million earmarked for the site in the recent trailblazer devolution deal.

The funding will allow preparation work on the site to begin and, once complete, the area will deliver thousands of homes, office and commercial space, education and health facilities, and community spaces.

Very much doubt Castle Leazes will ever be an option. So either go out of town or expand St James'.

Shame arena site had potential to be spectacular and would have been easiest option as brownfield site.

Castle Leaves is an option and by far the best option, even if the redevelopment encroaches only a small amount to provide the space to keep half the stadium useable half way through the process.

Get those shitting trees in the bin. We'll plant twice as many once the the beast is built.

I idly wondered if Staveley going might affect the choice of sites. Seem to remember she was pretty keen on SJP.

Probably not mind, they'll have been thinking about it for a while, I expect.

I’m the opposite think Staveley was a big champion of remaining at SJP, i think any sentiment will now be out the window and it will be whatever makes commercial sense.

Yes there’ll be a consultation on the face of it, but think facts will be presented heavily in favour of moving when the time comes.

It’s then up to the Council and Freemen to make sure club remain in city centre with a viable option.

will that be actual houses down the arena site then? or more apartments/student accommodation?

I don’t know. When Jamie Driscoll was in charge of the North Tyne authority, which this mayoral role superseded, he refused to allow the funds be used for anything other than affordable housing.

It seems like Kim is happy to just put the funds out if it’s going to include offices, and there is no mention of affordable homes.
