SEMTEX
Can't wait to see Oliver explain this one away. "But as soon as former boss Glenn Roeder resigned from his post as United manager, the Reading man felt his future lay at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho." i reckon you need 2 dice, just as it gives a better rating level... plus i think that would make the grammar correct? god knows. Karjala
Good, think he's totally overrated and didnt want him here. Not sure many times would have been daft enough to stump up the cash for him, after 1 season in the prem. Role on 2 seasons in the reserve leagues and a cut £2m transfer to the toon when he's totally horseshite.
The Bonk
This is the last we've heard of Sidwell. What he did in the first place to deserve the hype boggles my mind.
Dragon55544
I'll be astonished if he's still there in 18 months time. Can understand his reasoning - won't have to move his family, massive wage, might win things... That said, there's a very good chance he won't get a sniff of a run of games. He's obviously weighed things up and decided to sign for them. No great loss imo. Makelele is leaving this Summer, Balack has been pretty poor and Mikel hasnt been all that good so i think Sidwell will get more games than people think. He's at the bottom of the pile tbh. Not saying he won't play but when it comes to the crunch - he'll be a long way down the list. He might start 10 games if he's very lucky. Yea he's at the bottom but as someone has said African nations is next season so quite a few players will be leaving for a while. Sidwell will get the chance to win things and to play in the CHL so i can understand why he moved there.

Karjala
If its about money, how much do u reckon Chelsea are paying him, and how much were other clubs willing to pay? I mean, Sidwell isnt gonna get £50k a week at Chelsea is he? So lets say Chelski are paying him £35k a week, would the toon have been willing to pay 'only' £30k? Just find it ridiculous he's gone to Chelsea purely for money, he must know he's not gonna get much of a look in.

The way i see it is, He has a chance to play for 1 of the biggest clubs in England if not the world and has the chance to win things, He's gonna be playing and training with worldclass players and gonna have a chance to play in Europe and on top of that he's gonna be on very good money also his family dont need to move. He wont play week in week out but has a chance to try and prove he can play at the highest level. Basically whats he got to lose?

I agree - that is the whole idea of the Bosman signing - no transfer fee, so more money to throw at the player in wages/signing on fee, etc.

So were other teams like us willing to pay £45k a week for him then?? If so im even more glad we didnt sign him. Surely chelsea wouldnt pay £50k of the next closest offer was £35k. Guest
It doesn't always work like that though. Just because Bramble is on a free won't mean he'll get £30k a week or whatever. He'll be on the same, or probably even less, than what he's on here.
