eddco
Several games to play, plus an FA Cup run. We'll need them all by end of season, even Butt will have a minor use. Overhead kicks spring to mind!
Thespence
His on the pitch highlights for us: Kicking a mackem no mark player in the nuts, kissing the badge at SOL. His own highlight will no doubt be when he whacked Alonso down in front the Kop. He has 2 goals to his name both pens which makes him 1 behind Gezza's total career goals for us. Nicky Butt scored 3 goals in one season, do you honestly think Barton is capable of that? Maybe if he played a limited game like Alan Smith is doing he may do okay but anything creative or advanced he & our fans just need to forget it. ohmelads
We're best off getting rid for whatever we can. He's easily the most overrated player in our squad and besides, he is never fit. If he's on, say, 50 grand a week, that's over 2 million a year in wages we'd be saving. Not to mention the intangible benefits, like removing another leech from the club and a problem player from the dressing room. Not sure who'll have him, though. Ronaldo
Nolan and Barton in the middle could be interesting.
Dan Gleebals
50K a week can be far better spent to try and get some young, decent creativity into the team - not being wasted on a injury prone waste of space crook. If we can, off loads.
Guest Chris P
Baton Smudge and Nolan are all thugs. Just what we need in the midfield. let's gan out and kick fuck out o'them

Dr.Spaceman
How do you think Bolton have survived in the Premier League for so long? Because they have kicked the fuck out of anyone in the middle who can play, and have had the carthorse cunt Kevin Davies elbowing everyone to fuck. Kimbo
I'm looking forward to Barton getting back. Were playing well and he's capable of taking the teams play up a notch. Anyone know when he may return? I see we're getting to that point where we forget how poor he is again. He's a back up player in my eyes, infact i would consider loaning him out just to save a bit of money. Love how your exaggerating my point. Reward yourself with a biscuit, a rich tea perhaps. I think Barton has a lot of ability and is CAPABLE of taking the teams play up a notch. Not saying it's a nailed on fact to happen. Right now if Guthrie and Smith pick up a knock then it's back to Butt each week. I think Barton offers far more than Butt and would prefer him to be fit soon to be able to be available to play. Where have i exaggerated anything?
Flip
Ive seen two games with Barton during the last year, the one where he got a red card against Pool, where he certainly made the team look good and think it was against Leicster where he was very very poor. Don't know what to think of him as he havnt played consistently since he joined us.
Cronky
There might well come a point 3-4 months before the end of the season when the momentum starts to flag and players get a bit jaded. Barton would be a good player to bring in to freshen things up. When all's said and done, he is our most talented player. If his career hadn't been derailed by all the trouble that he gets into, he'd be playing for one of the big four, I reckon.
ToonTastic
Hopefully he's fit enough to sell to any bidder at all in the January window. Played appalling for us every time he has come back from his many many injuries. If he was from Spain he'd be pulled up on this in the way our other spanish shite has, for some reason because it is Barton he gets cheered in some stupid way as he warms up, then comes on plays shite and gets injured again whilst wasting us many thousands of pounds each week. ToonTastic
When all's said and done, he is our most talented player. He's yet to show this for us at all. In fact he's up there was one of our least effective and talentless players.

In fact he's up there was one of our least effective and talentless players. For reasons of injury and misdemeanour, he has yet to have a run of games where he can build up his fitness. Yes, that is largely his fault and he has let the club down badly, but that doesn't make him a talentless player. Even in his short bursts of first team activity, we've seen that he can open up the opposition defence in a way that our other central midfielders can't. Guest guinness_fiend
I don't mean to pee on anyone's parade here, but does anyone honestly think that, if we sell ANY players, Ashley will invest the money in new talent? One of the stumbling blocks that prevented him from selling in the summer was our level of debt and chances are that any money made would be used to reduce the same. Also, the way that some people are going on here, you'd think we had the pick of any player we want and that we have a huge squad. "Ah, get rid of Harewood. That Barton's s***. Do we really need Simpson?" Actually, yes, we do. We need all of them. If the last six of so transfer windows have taught us anything, it's that we never get anywhere near the amount or calibre of players that we want/need. There is nothing to suggest that this window will be any different. Until we have the Manchester City millions to allow us to play real-life Fantasy Football, I vote that we stick with the squad that we have and try and bring in a few new (and cheap) faces if we can. Selling anyone at this stage could be suicidal, especially given the length of the Championship season and how injury-prone our players are.

In fact he's up there was one of our least effective and talentless players. I would agree that he's been a waste of time for us, I would have preferred it if we could get rid tbh, but even when playing badly he shows glimpses that he is streets ahead technically than the likes of Nolan. Whether he's ever going to produce that here is a different matter.
Guest Stephen927
We're managing okay without him at the moment, should try and sort out a loan deal for him until the end of the season. Get him back in the Premiership, back in the shop window.

I agree with you but with the likes of Barton it's a player we are playing stupid money out to which we can't play so surely it's better for the club to not be paying the wages even if the investment doesn't go straight back into the club ? He played the end of last season and was terrible. If I remember correctly he managed a full pre season played 6 games for us at the start of this season and despite us doing well he was terrible. His passes went astray, he looked over weight and not up to it in the Championship. Barton looked like a good player at City but he's yet to play like that for us in the 38 games he's managed in 3 seasons at the club.
