Which positions do you think Allardyce needs to strengthen further?

Right, even there is Mike Ashley the so-called millionaire, at the moment we still don't have the proof that he will give cash injection for Allardyce to buy players (MEAN massive cash injection), that's also probably why right now Allardyce work in tight budget (free transfer among others)  :)

Until now, we already bought:

- Mark Viduka (striker)

- Joey Barton (central midfielder)

- David Rozehnal (central defender)

- Geremi (right back, right midfielder, central midfielder?)

If this condition continues until the transfer window close (we never know), and of course Allardyce can't buy players for EVERY positions, what positions that you aren't satisfied IF apparently Allardyce doesn't buy player(s) for those positions? (including the need of the backup)  blueyes.gif

First come in mind, definitely: left back (only Babayaro, whereas Huntington and Edgar aren't left back)

Others:

- Are you satisfied with the center back pair of Taylor and Rozehnal (with Ramage, Huntington and Edgar as the backup), or are you not satisfied if we don't buy another (experience?) center back?

- Assuming Owen and Martins stay, are you satisfied if we don't buy any other forward (no Gudjohnsen etc)?

- And how about center midfield (attacking and defensive), winger and right back position? (bear in mind 4-4-2 and Allardyce favorite 4-3-3 formation).

Please discuss

Im confused.

LB and CB are the glaringly obvious positions we are too weak to start the season without reinforcing.

Although Id like a new right aswell, we could hobble along there, likewise with DM and an attacking midfielder.

Left back, attacking CM, and another CD.

as parky says and doesn't it seem very suspicous that nothing has really been suggested in the left back/centre half departments.

we'll have to trust work is being conducted away from the press.

something, hopefully,we'll have to get used to.

Left back, attacking CM, and another CD.

Pretty much sums it up.

Reckon we could do with a DM as well, considering we'll probably be playing 3 in the middle a fair bit.

We haven't signed Duscher yet and I've already said he'll do if we haven't got much to spend, so you can roll those eyes up your ass mate.

Hopefully he's looking to add 2x LB, a RB, another CB, a creative midfielder and a DM if the Duscher trial doesn't work out.

I personally think he only needs to strengthen the defence.

We need (as Sam himself has said) two good players for every position. This means that defensively (including the goalkeeping position) we should have 10 good first-team quality (ideally 'better' than other teams have) players.

How many do we already have?

GOALKEEPER - 2 (Given/Harper, so NONE needed)

CENTRE BACK (A) - 1 (Taylor, so ONE needed)

CENTRE BACK (B) - 1 (Rozenhal, so ONE needed)

RIGHT BACK - 1 (Geremi, so ONE needed)

LEFT BACK - 0 (so TWO needed)

So  -  we still need to acquire a total of FIVE new, top quality, defenders (in my view).

Shade OTT

We need a top quality CB and LB, maybe at RB if Sam isn't comfortable with Solano, Geremi and Carr there.

The other LB only has to be decent cover, if we even sign one that is. Reckon Babayaro will end up being 2nd choice.

Possibly a 4th choice CB, but even then I'm not expecting anything more than a solid, but quite limited, player.

We need a really top class LB and CB though. Marquez and Riise/Heinze would do nicely.

2 Left Backs

2 Centre Halves

1 RB (depending on what allardyce intends to do with Geremi)

A dogs-bollocks playmaker.

And a club doctor who knows what they're doing and is capable of keeping Owen, Viduka and Martins fit for the season.  ;)

Right back, two left backs, a centre back and some creativity in the centre of midfield.

I'm agreeing with the Wullanater on this one.  Strengthen up the back line with some quality and a bit of flair in the midfield.

Agreed, one of those two Centre Halves should have loads of experience and a big mouth to organise the back 4.

2 LBs and 2 CBs

After saying yesterday we were only after defenders now, it looks like we are signing Aldo Duscher which is a bit surprising. But why not I think he's a good player?

If Sam Plays 4-4-3 then we probably need:

CB - Someone Experienced like Campbell

CB/RB - Someone who can play both positions well like Beye

LB - Baines or Shorey

DM - Alou Diarra

CM - Deco

Deco, Diarra and Barton as a 3 would be amazing for us.
