NG32
If Enrique is that miffed, then shift him on. The problem is, do the top 4 clubs really want him in this country or do any of the top foreign clubs want him?

Gallowgate Toon
He has a point on the lying, it mustn't be great to work under but I completely disagree on the transfer front, we're doing the right thing and have increased the squad's ability. He hasn't half shown himself up a bit though, are big clubs really going to want him after these outbursts? He obviously thinks he's made it but not a single concrete offer has come in for him, which is telling. He's probably found that dejecting and is trying to drum up interest from the 'big' clubs, what else could have been his motives? He's certainly not interested in fixing his relationship with the club. I thought he was a model pro but his attitude has been apalling, instead of getting his head down and continued working to get a move that will get him his international recognition, he's pulling stunts like this, which he knows will cause massive issues for people he supposedly cares about. Dr Venkman
Between 7th and 9th. I think we might tread water if we sign Erdinc and replace Enrique. Given that we were one kick away from 9th anyway, I don't see why that's not a fair, realistic expectation. strikes me as being fair that we aim for higher really, given the money we SHOULD have at our disposal to make the squad stronger
buzza
I feel for the lad, I really do. To me it seems more like a case of them promising Enrique, and obviously quite a few others, that the money they got from the Carrol sale would be reinvested completely. Enrique follows this up by his refusal to sign another contract until it is demonstarted that they are telling the truth. Regretably, this is not the case, Newcastle have done a net spend of 0.5M and are looking to shift the crux of the team. He twits his grievances about this and I for one agree completely with him. Hopefully we will all be proved wrong and we will buy a striker to replace Carrol, a right winger likes of Nzogbia and a couple of defenders... Here's hoping!! NG32
Well yeah, i think we all agree but he isn't gonner win. We cant have someone sitting about playing half arsed sulky football for a season. Need to try and shift him.

A lot of younger players loving it Is he still (if he really was) on the payroll?

Guest bimpy474
Blimey the last page consisted of : anything positive said by a journo means he is paid by the club and it cannot surely be true, anything bad about the club is to be believed and the journo has finally found some balls. Amazing how cynical fat ashley has made us, what a state of affairs he has brought to this club.

oldtype
Worst case scenario, Ashley paying off his debt by making a profit makes it easier for him to sell the club. Silver lining to every cloud. Right?

Right? How long is that going to take though..? Personally think Ashley is here for the long-haul. This club has the potential to be very profitable. But I agree, we are reaching new heights these days. Agree with this. I despised Shepherd and for a long time could see the logic Ashley was applying and felt much of his approach was 'defensible', my attitude changed after the Carroll sale, the Hughton sacking, the Golfmag posts and the blatent lies and bullshit we get spoon fed from the club. I'd much prefer a honest line from the club - for sure it would upset a few but in the long term we'd all be better off for it.
Skirge
I really really doubt he is looking to sell, if there was anyone interested i buying the club then a deal would be done. Oyjer clubs sell with way more debt and a much higher wage bill than we have. There is only one thing that is stopping any potential buyers getting the club and thats Ashley, doing business with him must be a nightmare. All this player contract bother is down to his vision on how football clubs should be ran and its causing massive problems, its not about selling its about how to make a profit from a club. oldtype
Most football clubs themselves will never be profitable, and we certainly won't be unless we somehow fluke our way to the Champions League several times in a row somehow despite him investing near-nothing. The only reason to own one is to leverage the brand value(Man Utd) or if you like the attention. We have no brand value to speak of and as far as I can tell Ashley doesn't like the attention at all. If Ashley is indeed squirreling away the "Carroll money" somewhere, it will be for the purpose of paying off the clubs debt to him and making it more marketable. The only reason the club hasn't been sold yet is because no-one is daft enough to pay him what he payed + the debt + extra. No doubt in my mind that he wants out and would in fact never buy Newcastle United if he could go back in time.

Also consider how outspoken Caulkin, and especially Bird and McNally are compared to the majority of the regional journalists.

Dave
“We have offered him the best contract that has been offered to anyone here for a long while and we cannot do any more, really. “Obviously if someone comes in before the window closes, with a year left, it would be difficult for us. “As a manager, of course I want him to stay. The worst thing for us would be if he went late, that’s the problem. “We are trying to do some business because we need to cover ourselves in that area between now and the end of the window regardless of Enríque.” How much is Enrique reportedly on?
