Wilson is one of the best no.9s I've seen in B&W before the injuries kicked in fully ... but I'm sorry, I also can't pretend I give a shite. I have no real emotional attachment to players - at least no more than any other humans - I don't know them personally. I hope they're happy etc like I would anyone else - but they're perfect strangers to me. The shirt and the club is what counts, not the bloke temporarily wearing it - the Tommy Dockerty line about strips on a washing line applies to most football fans I reckon. I've little sentiment for players being sold or leaving the club in any real sense - that's what football is. The club is what counts.

Should Palace win today and Forest win their last 2 games to finish ahead of Chelsea, and all other results go as expected would that leave Chelsea reliant on winning the Conference League just to get into the Europa? Trying to find an argument for rooting for Palace today, would make it a more interesting final plus fuck City. Bad enough to have to spend yesterday evening shouting for their neighbours.

He’ll be a smart signing I think but basically, if Howe wants him, that’ll do for me.
-
Until his current injury he’d barely missed a match for two seasons. Isak missed significantly more matches in that period, but no-one wants to label him a ‘crock’. I agree his goalscoring record has been poor in recent seasons (although who he’s been playing for hasn’t helped…) but he wouldn’t be getting brought in to get us 15-20 a season. He’d be someone capable of scoring, but more importantly (IMO), someone that can give us a different focal point to Isak, should we be chasing, or give us an ‘out’ to get up the pitch, should we be protecting. Anyway, all moot unless he actually signs…
-
Well I hope your wrong.
-
disagree. He’ll be coming in imo.
-
Yes our recruitment has been flawless which is why we'll go nowhere near DCL
-
the good old ‘Ashley-esque’ line. Nothing we do is ‘Ashley-esque’. Literally nothing. if we bring DCL in (which I think we will) it’ll be well thought out , our recruitment is pretty much flawless. just let them get on with it.
-
Must be a personal thing but I tend to follow the fortunes of previous stalwarts of the club. I'll always give them a warm reception to thank them for their service when they return.
-
So you have zero emotional attachment to any of the players… ever?
-
He had that touch of genius that I've really only seen in Messi, George Best and probably Ronaldo Nazario. Obviously he wasn't able to produce it on a consistent basis, but when HBA was on form, my god. What a player to watch.

I don't get get the good servant sentiment, they're paid millions. Couldn't give a shite what befalls him after he's gone. Thanks Cal, see ya.

Would be beautiful if City somehow missed out. -
Nice to have a big match to watch where I'm not too fussed about the outcome. It's proper stressful between watching us and then hate watching the other sides, and we've still got tomorrow, Wednesday night, next Saturday and next Sunday to come so this is a bit of buffer. Think it's why the enjoyed the league 1 and 2 play off games as well. Anyway, would rather Palace win as it's just something different and City don't need or deserve another trophy, but I certainly wouldn't be pissed off if City do win, never really minded them as a club and though they've got lost in all the tourist rubbish since the moneh came rolling, they do have some proper core fans that do have stuff in common with us.

Not sure about that. Bournemouth have pretty fucking great away stats. 7-7-4, 4th best. The game is also just 3 days after the FA Cup final. -
When was the last time we beat Arsenal?
-
CL for fifth now, and CL for winning the Europa which for the first time has no CL teams dropping into it has shaken things up. It all feels weird. fwiw, if we hadn't been dumped in a group of death and denied in Paris by that handball call, and Man U hadn't been hopeless in an easy group, the England coefficient would have been better and Spurs would have had a much better chance of getting CL last season for finishing fifth. It looks like 19/20 and 23/24 were the only recent seasons where English clubs weren't in the top two countries. https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/country/?year=2025

Calvert Lewin & Vardy suggestions are terrible. Ashley-esque signings. We've reportedly got a significant recruitment budget this summer and we need to press on, not lumber ourselves with over the hill players on massive wages.
-
Maybe DCL of 4 years ago, when we thought he might turn out to be a very good player, he hasn't had a clean run of games or looked good in years. Crazy to sign injury prone players, the more you get those types of injuries the more likely you suffer them with greater frequency and easier in future. We've had enough write offs, Willock had a warning sign on him, 2 serious knee and thigh issues before we signed him.Not only did Willock not improve, he's significantly worse as a player, it'd take a lot of luck to ever reach the levels he showed before even.

Nah, but it'd make the race for 8th redundant.
