"Sean Longstaff is untouchable . Newcastle has forcefully reiterated its no to Atalanta , who in recent days has tested the waters for the central midfielder from North Sheilds, offering significant figures. The Geordies' response was dry: between 40 and 50 million, a valuation that far exceeds the player's current market value. Despite last season's injuries, in fact, the Tyneside club considers the 1997-born player an asset on which to base the Midfield of the future." Straight swap ?
-
No idea about fee reasonableness tbh
-
Did he mention June specifically? I would call first half of July pretty early TBH.
-
Pretty high though, suggests he'd be £100m if fit and no question marks?
-
Wouldn’t take what EH says on transfers at face value. Even if you did he never said we WOULD sign someone in June. Opportunities might arise in the last couple of days of June nothing more. He said he’d IDEALLY like a couple in in time for 7th July. Long way to go for both in transfer window terms.

Translation of the article it cites: "Giorgio Scalvini is untouchable . Atalanta has forcefully reiterated its no to Newcastle , who in recent days has tested the waters for the central defender from Bergamo, offering significant figures. The Goddess' response was dry: between 40 and 50 million, a valuation that far exceeds the player's current market value. Despite last season's injuries, in fact, the Nerazzurri club considers the 2003-born player an asset on which to base the defense of the future." Assuming the translation is vaguely accurate, it seems to be saying that Atalanta is simultaneously saying he's not for sale... unless you offer us 40-50m euros, which they consider to be a "fuck off" price of sorts due to his injury? 50m euros would be about what we paid for Tino. I could see us paying up tbh
-
Things will pick up “next week.”
-
We will need to pay close to what that value would be. £60m odd. Pretty much what we did with Tino.
-
I can kinda see where they're coming from. If he manages to have a solid, injury-free season, they could suddenly find themselves fielding offers from several top clubs. Why sell now at a discount?
-
How about those phone lines for gossip about your team?
-
This has absolutely ruined not only my day but probably my whole week.
-
It was nuts. Mark Walters, Michael Laudrup, even F*lkirk (utter scum in a can) signed Chris bloody Waddle.
-
For all the advances of technology, I don't half miss the innocence and fun of Ceefax
-
Unsellable, a word I don't like for other team's players
-
Howe wouldn’t have been talking about speed and early June transfers for weeks if he knew we would be deliberately waiting till July.
-
I don’t think we are, the clubs we want to buy from may want to wait though.
-
I wouldn’t have thought so as even if we bought someone of the first of June only one month of Amortisation would’ve affected this years PSR calculations
-
Honestly, I'm cured of this, Chelsea for me is much worse than what is being levelled at Man City, they cheated their way to financial freedom by circumventing PSR rules. Whereas Chelsea are already part of the financially free chosen teams that PSR was built to protect and yet they continue to cheat the system to fuel their greed by hoovering up every single player they can get their hands on. I hope it all collapses around them and they flounder into obscurity. /rant
-
Sounds like the nonce wing of Durham nick
-
Is this not because we're waiting until the end of the current PSR period though? (So, the end of June) (Still disappointing in comparison to others, mind)
-
You mean he isn't already on Wearside waiting to sign?
-
Ryan Flamingo, drove to town in a twingo. He’s learning the lingo. His mother loves bingo

Well thats harsh, how can a young apprentice learn if he's not getting constructive feedback and praise when he does good work.
