100%. Used to be the same when I was younger and was CM/FM obsessed and so were my mates. It also helped that the PL wasn’t Europe’s top division at that point, meaning that generally an expensive player from abroad was going to be a likely hit. This is no longer the case, as many clubs (especially Man Utd) can attest to.

Figures being bandied about by various outlets is 32m for him, which is well beyond a joke,
-
Nominate Vlachodimos going to Olympiakos
-
At the same time aren’t we his third club in 6 years or so? I may be wrong on that as I can’t be arsed to look up when he joined Southampton from Chelsea.
-
Not a dig at you Ikon, just feel there's a prevalence now for people wanting relatively unknown players because they're deemed more exciting than players we see in the Prem week in/week out Feels very FM-esque
-
Trump edit: didn’t get to the end of your comment before answering haha. Yes, agreed. trump.
-
When did it become so common for people to write things in BLOCK CAPITALS for impact? Since Trump started doing it?
-
Personally I think we’ve struggled at times to break teams down in certain games. Where we’ve really not been able to feed Isak as much as we would have liked. Where it has looked like we’ve run out of ideas. Obviously not most games no.
-
That's not a bad article at all to be fair, complements us and says with a proper owner we could be a somebody etc, it's a hit piece on Ashley and says a lot of what we were all saying. "Newcastle is a great club but Ashley's Newcastle is not". Indeed.
-
He played LB in the LC Final. Looked less than great the whole season at RB. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a RB, just that it’s actually a fair bit of time since he played well there. Again, doesn’t mean that I think he’s not good enough or that we should sell, just that if Howe chooses to do so then I’m fine with that
-
Think it's just that everyone we're signing being worse than shit and then an unknown teen from a random European league being that he could be a class signing
-
It wouldn’t surprise me to find that Forest sign one of our players if this goes through…
-
Nobody buys the old Ashley players, we won’t sell either of thosethem.
-
I don't think they will have problems shifting other players first. Martinez and/or Ramsey would be my bets for the pure profit that Ramsey would generate. Onana cost £50m so has a book value of £40m so they would have to sell for at least £60m you would imagine for it to make financial sense to even consider to sell.
-
No I don’t. Not sure if it’s even a genuine question from you or a bit cheeky? I’ll answer anyway of course. As said no I haven’t seen him play but I’ve read and heard quite a lot about him for a while now. Seems to be VERY highly rated, especially his potential ceiling which is said to be very very high. Therefore I used the word “could” because he’s still young and you never know in football and adaptation to a new country and so on. Many say he’s destined to go far.
-
Holt should have been binned off for that Bruce article alone, but alas we all still clicked on it
-
Vlach is likely unsellable as he’ll have been paid over the odds to do the deal last year. And selling him for peanuts triggers a PSR loss on the books. Best can hope for there is a loan with a bit of fee income
-
Agreed, just depends how desperate they need to sell I suppose.
-
It was a response to you saying he would be better at RB after a run there..
-
I think Onana would be an amazing signing but I can't see Villa selling him. I think they are expecting him to go to another level this season, he has so many qualities.
-
I was thinking £15m for Willock, £15m for Longstaff and £10m combined for the two goalkeepers but as mentioned further down that would create a loss on Vlach so is pointless. Surely the Saudi's can give us a bit of cash for Dubravka and he has been keen to go there in the past. These may all be quite ambitious fees but as you say, I did not expect to get c.£20m for Lloyd Kelly so you never know!
-
Still not sure if we can get an English team? Hoping not
-
But even if we don't change from 4-3-3 Howe has switched around how we attack loads. Joelinton/Willock dovetailing for example. More bodies in midfield and attack will mean we can manage our minutes better. I don't think we have much issues creating chances when we're fit.
