Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
Tonalis Bookie replied to joeyt's topic in Football
The fees were negotiated and decided by DA, the pot of money was always pre-determined and we had to work up to a specific figure. The mismanagement happened across other areas. However seeing some of the fees saved around the club it is hard to see how we got ourselves into a mess. Ashley left us in a mess but some wages are so horrendously lower for specific individuals there were a few blessings -
It's a false equivalence, but crack on.

Per se...sorry, couldn't resist.

I dont see how we bid 36m (total) 12 months ago and dont go back in when hes free. Whilst I wouldn't see him as the idea signing, hes at least a body who offers something different from the bench when fit, if thats the role hes limited to and he can somehow remain fit he is an adequate signing for the role. I wouldnt want to see him as first off the bench but if he replaces wilson and Osula gets promoted to 2nd striker it fills a need

These cunts mackin' waves again
-
Similar, but recall him being a bit limited to say the least.
-
Can you kindly stop introducing facts. You’re disrupting the narrative.
-
No he can't, you need players who are actually fit to play, not another injury ridden player. Sorry, but it's unreal that you and others are even thinking he would be acceptable, even as 3rd choice
-
Like I say hopefully not.

The approach to PSR likely has more to do with Eales than it does PIF.
-
Yeah, it will depend on what Konate is asking for. They may prefer to keep him and let him walk on a free next summer too, so as not to have too much change at the back this summer. Particularly as they are already bringing in a new right back and left back to the backline already. If Konate then leaves on a free they would then pick up Guehi on a free too, and so they may just accept that as no real loss.
-
Was a lot of that not Amanda Stavely though.

It’s in the rules that we can buy non footballing assets - doesn’t impact PSR - and then sell it. Does impact PSR positively. Car parks, hotels, absolutely anything. We can sell it. We can even buy it - to sell it. I ask you - what is stopping the club from doing that? Youre talking about one particular asset. A bit of imagination would lead you to other alternatives. Even in your example. We could sell it - then buy it back (no impact to PSR). Re-sell it. It’s just moving assets around.

There have been some absolute shite accounts join this forum since the takeover like. They have spent over £30m to bring in Bruno when it looked like we were going down, brought in Trippier to try and steady the ship. Sacked Bruce as soon as he gave himself enough rope, brought in an up and coming manager. Took us to 2 cup finals in 3 years, winning a trophy for the first time since 1969, first domestic trophy since 1955. Brought in Isak for £60m, plus £10m in add ons. Brought in young players we can develop. Invested in the women’s team to take them from the lower leagues of women’s football, to compete for a place in the WSL. Twice invested in the training ground whilst we await a suitable site for a new academy complex. Bought the Strawberry land back in the off chance we’ll need it to expand SJP, but are instead looking at building us a new stadium worth between £2bn-£4bn (potentially the most expensive stadium build in the world). Mike Ashley could buy another club and own them for the same 14 years he owned us, and between us and them he wouldn’t even touch what PIF have done for us in less than 4 years.

I agree with this fully tbh. But I’m cheering our team on and hoping we can get even better - a team backed by mega tories and a state. It’s super ugly. Personally if I hated it enough - I would walk away from the club. The game has absolutely gone.

Her aggressive ambition has been sorely missed. Impossible to say how things would have been if she’d stayed but I would be convinced she’d be trying her best for the club, Howe and us. The current lot? not so much. On Anderson, not a single person thought he’d develop so well and so quickly this time a year ago. Minteh was the golden boy who we’d definitely regret losing and who all the tears were shed over. It’s simply rewriting history to suggest selling Anderson was a huge mistake. There’s no guarantee he’d turn out this well if he’d stayed, in fact it’s very likely he wouldn’t have and most would be happy to shift him this summer.

Howe and his inner circle are the ones leading negotiations. Moving quickly doesn't mean just paying whatever clubs ask for, we will still have a budget in place after all. The speed factor was more regarding PIF sign off on the deal once an agreement was in place from all parties. If you recall, this was previously an issue that was mentioned. However, we haven't even agreed with the selling clubs yet, to then go to PIF for their final sign off. Think we just need to let Howe and his guys work through their list of targets. There's been a fair bit of concern about only going for Prem targets, well the way things are going, we'll soon have to pivot to targets abroad, and so people will get what they want. Don't believe for a second we don't have other options outside the Prem. Nickson has always been strong in that area, and there will be other options that he would have presented to Howe and discussed with him. It won't be the same as it was with Mitchell last year, where there was less reception to the targets he was maybe presenting, because there was no relationship and trust there yet.

Think Delap was value and opportunity led. Similar to Tino, Pope, Trippier, Barnes and others. Probably Trafford too. Hall too - he fit the position but was probably not ideal age wise for the circumstances but it was then or never. So we did it.

Liverpool's known for not paying big wages. Konate's on 80k a week. Only Salah and VVD get 400k. After that, it's Wirtz at 200k the rest are around 160 to 120. I reckon he's gone this summer, or he'll leave for free next year, with Madrid sniffing around. It will be interesting to see how Liverpool handle this situation.

Won't buy our deadwood, but will stop Juggernaut AFC from signing players?
