Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup
Wallsendmag replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
Looks like the Lower bowl sold out now and Level 7 in the Milburn starting to sell so best part of 40,000 already sold and the match isn't for another 2 months. Big increase on last years Sela Cup match where the crowd was just under 34,000. Probably down to a few reasons but mainly the opposition and the increasing difficulty in getting tickets for games at SJP has meant that 1000s who've barely had a look in last season have jumped in early to guarantee themselves a ticket. -
Good shot accuracy. He’s get more chances with us which might lead to a significant uplift in goals.
-
Potentially fair, and this may be what Eddie's thinking too.
-
The questions about his price are fair enough, but I doubt you're going to get a winger with that kind of output for much less.
-
I think Elanga has the potential to be a very good player for us, especially under Eddie. Just not sure about blowing 50m of our budget on him.
-
If he was good enough for Ralf Ragnick then im all in
-
I just hope this process is over soon. I'd hate for this to be another transfer that's goes on for an Elangated time.
-
Now compare their premier league numbers when Murphy was 23 years old. If we're after Elanga, it's because we feel his ceiling is lot higher than we currently have.
-
I think Mitchell's days were numbered from the moment he delivered his first speech
-
Bet he gets some decent boot deals

I liked him at first. He had reached the top level by an unconventional route, and seemed to bring something different. However, I don't think he adjusted to the different level of competition that he was facing - perhaps because he thought he was already the finished article and didn't need to. This season, he lost composure under pressure and started arguing with supporters, the media and officialdom. What's more, there have been questions as to whether his training methods were contributing to his team's injury problems. I didn't get the impression that he was working closely with his backroom staff. Eddie clearly works in a team framework and seeks other opinions, but that seemed absent with Ange. Another curious thing was that he didn't seem to communicate with his players on the pitch. I've often wondered whether managers shouting and gesticulating on the touchline was really effective, but Ange seemed to go in the opposite direction, as though making a particular point of not doing that. At times, Spurs looked like they needed some tactical adjustments, but they didn't come.

Consider it payment for the Champions League place. Cheers.

Real Madrid will be doing the same with Carreras. Just need someone to buy Greenwood now.

I get what you're saying, and I would rather we were signing someone who was a bit better on the technical side. Mbeumo would have been great, but maybe we just have to face the fact that the players who are most in demand at any given time won't be available to us yet. If Elanga does sign, then I think either Gordon or Barnes will leave, and I reckon it will be Gordon. I agree that we have difficulty in breaking down teams who come to defend because our players generally aren't technical enough when it comes to passing and controlling the ball through tight spaces. Maybe Grealish on loan, playing as a number 10 would help.
