Well for starters there isn’t a guarantee Elanga would work out for us. From my limited knowledge gained from watching the odd Forest game when they’ve been on Super Sunday, he suits them down to the ground being a fast winger that they try to get the ball to as quick as possible when playing on the break. We play completely different way - he may suit, he may not. I’m not saying I don’t trust Howe to make it work. I am saying I think anything close to £60m (so I suppose £52m can be included in that) for him is absolutely absurd. I couldn’t see any of the teams we’re competing with in the league make that signing. Also able to acknowledge that £50m now is probably a £20m player 5-6 years ago, but still. Just a mad fee for a relatively limited player.

We can go on about minteh and Anderson but we still lake when it comes to selling players. When you actually compare the players we sell to other teams we are still lacking. Especially if we want to build the squad. 24/25 season chelsea sold 9 players which included Lewis Hall, Conor Ghallager and Ian Matseen. So many youth players for pure profit. Villa also sold 9 players that season including Jhon Duran, Moussa Diaby and Douglas luiz. Me made 4 Anderson, Minteh, Almiron and Kelly. According to Transfermarkt we brought in over €100m less that villa and Chelsea in player sales People keep complaining about Anderson and Minteh but every team sells players. Our owners need to decide how are they going to run this club to be able to have the growth it needs. We will have to be smarter with our transfer in and out.

Agree. He gets Newcastle, but as an outsider who has come from a smaller club, he will totally understand that the established big clubs have a bigger pull than the likes of us or Villa. We saw this early on with Ekitike, it's not something new.

£52m? To be honest all the numbers seem ridiculous guess the actual cost itself becomes secondary to a comparison of what you could get for a similar amount. Perhaps we should go and buy five League One/Championship level players and hope one works out.

A week today and the players start feeding back in for pre season. From a star player perspective (Isak, Bruno, Tonali etc) it would be seen as a disappointment to see no new faces in. Bruno even said post Everton game the squad needs help.

Yeah it is always going to happen. For the record other teams also have the stitches on bit for their long sleeved version, unless you also have the authentic long sleeved version. Arsenal do have, and I think it depends on how well our long sleeved versions sell in order for us to get it in future.
