I really don't mind not getting Guehi - especially at that price - it's about whether there's confidence in there being a plan b/c/d.
-
What do you define as "later in the window" though? I think everyone will be a bit concerned if we don't have a new face or two in by pre-season.
-
To be fair he had a 2 in 2 goal record for us last season which is pretty clinical
-
Could be the case that we can't start until July though.
-
Of the crew we seem to be linked with (Pedro, Elanga, Trafford etc.) this is the one I’m least bothered about. I really can’t see what the fuss is about with this bloke.
-
I don’t, just putting some thoughts down based on the us waiting till later in the window comments. Just spitballing.
-
How do we know that we haven't?
-
Playing devils advocate, many clubs manage to sign players with contracts that become effective on a given future date of their choosing. What prevents us? We hear we’ll shop in July but doesn’t that feel like we don’t know who we’re after? Wouldn’t you just approach a players agent and gauge their interest, if interested agree terms, sound out his club and get a deal done? This waiting later in the window talk to see which players are left after the big boys are done or who’s desperate to sell is akin to turning up at the supermarket at the end of the day and waiting for the reductions, do we really operate like that?
-
Not sure there's ever been a better DM.
-
Being a dick aside, £70 million for him is absolute madness.
-
Our behaviour last August suggested that we had capacity for 1 signing - at the right price. we since sold Almiron and Kelly so might have a little more to stretch, but we will have a more flexible budget on 1st July. meanwhile Burnley have to sell this month. They will be holding out to sell someone else other than Trafford, or that someone else comes in to start a bidding war. the closer it gets to July the more likely they are going to have to drop their price for Trafford. We are potentially going to have a great deal here.

I'd think about the same, maybe less, maybe a bit more. Pace brings price up more than other attributes. Doesn't have the pace to be an all round top class CB. But next to a Van Djik for example, or if VH is your no.1 CB and your 2 is has recovery pace, he certainly has what it takes to be integral to a top defence and a top tier distributor of the ball. Think the takeaway is Brighton, Forest, and Bournemouth have signed 4 center backs for around what we were supposedly willing to pay for Guehi. And everybody knew about Milkenovic, 12mil was a steal. Given Mitchell was there, you'd have hoped we knew of Hjuisen. Either way, Guehi's can be gotten for far less and with coaching great defenders with average pace can be found young.

Good with his feet, shit in the air. Maybe I'm old school but in my opinion you need to be a big bugger to play DC. Cannavaro the exception, of course. And Koeman, but he was just a FK merchant.

It depends how big the stadium will be. If we could have a stack like venue within the stadium itself, with it’s own turnstiles (doors for non match-days) then that would allow us to get away from rules preventing us from showing the home games in the fan zones like the Stack. I do think NUFC and other clubs should be working to at least being able to show their own games (regardless of a TV blackout or not, and regardless of it being home or away) in their own fan zones with the relevant authorities. I’m a firm believer that the new stadium should have street frontage, it’s one of my pet hates about a lot of new stadiums, including Everton’s. I think having things like a Stack that is open all year round will be one way of accomplishing this. A club shop/box office, museum entrance, maybe a restaurant or similar, and of course the main entrance should be able to give us a wrap around street footage.

Let’s have some positivity. We all knew July was more realistic for the timing of our business other than a cheeky PSR raid on Villa or similar - which doesn’t seem likely. The clubs who have done business so far have the power to do so for huge fees and wages. Most deals mind have been via release clauses. Nothing you can do when the player decides to join the club in question ala Cunha to Man Utd. We’re going to get business done and it will be exciting, there will be a firm lsak is not leaving this summer briefing to Hope et al and in 3-4 weeks and things are going to be looking very much up.
-
Everyone seems to have overlooked the PIF Chairman has instructed NUFC not to sell Isak. The same goes for Bruno Tonali Joelinton etc. We are building a team to challenge at the top of the EPL as well as the Champs league so regardless of what Liverpool try to unsettle Isak he will be wearing the black and white of NUFC next season!!!

I wonder if they aren't allowed to have proper silver kits any more. Can't think of any since the two Umbro 80s ones. The adidas and Puma ones were just light grey and not really silver. Desperately want a trefoil silver shirt.
-
They won't get more than 30m for him this summer, we thought..
-
Another slow defender

Damn it thought that was a new tweet. Properly annoyed now the fucking bald nonce

Are we though? Or just can’t compete with fee’s and wages? If he was signing for someone below us then you’d maybe have a point. We joke but this was why the cartel brought in the PSR amendments etc. Also recall talk 12 month ago he was waiting on Liverpool…
