Didn't happen did it.

"Villa haven't been in long, or the Mags" I the last 32 years, we've only been missing from the PL for two seasons.

Anyone else noticed that Burton Albion in League One started the season looking certain for relegation after only picking up 8 points in their first 16 fixtures, but then switching gears and finishing with the 11th highest point total for the last 30 matches of the season? What happened there after the first 16? They escaped relegation by one single point at the end of it all:

It was an answer to a reporter from Norwegian TV2 before the return fixture between Celtic and B/G in 2022, came as an answer when asked if he felt the differences in club sizes meant Celtic's defeat at home in the first leg was "embarrassing" for the club and if Celtic stood a chance to overturn the two goal deficit away from home. Given the fact the Spurs vs. B/G match-up is a semi-final and the Celtic match-up was three years ago, and a Round of 32 match-up, it'll not be easy to sift through the recent stories when searching. He's been nothing but complimentary as far as I can tell this time around, but this time around he wasn't in charge of the first "big" club to get knocked out by the club like he was back in '22 either. Fwiw, this is Joe Hart reminiscing about it: “Obviously we do our analysis, very professional in the modern day – and I don’t feel confident saying it – but we professionally took them lightly, and we disrespected them." https://thecelticstar.com/joe-hart-admits-celtic-underestimated-bodo-glimt-in-2022/

Their delusion is the biggest millstone around that clubs neck. Constantly bigging up their players in an utterly desperate attempt to match up to their far bigger rivals means that when the truth is laid bare they inevitably fall short. And then the knives come out. They’ll be stuck in this cycle for the foreseeable future.

Fair enough, I was having a hard time believing that was his picture. Was funny though.

Except both us and Villa are owned by billionaires are amongst the richest sporting clubs in the world due to ownership wealth. We’ve also both employed very good managers who have now been in their position for 3 years, and had the support of their boards during rough periods. Nottingham Forest struggled for 2 years, and even got a points deduction because of how they had to spend money to rebuild their squad. Brighton repeatedly sell their best players at the first opportunity, and have arguably taken a step backwards since their European qualification a couple of seasons ago. I can’t see their supporters sticking by them in any of those scenarios, now can I see their owner throwing them the money required to build a squad that could compete further up the Premier League. If they do go up, he’ll likely sell to the first American consortium who get in contact with him.

Guehi is leaving regardless and I’m sure Eze still has a release clause. Both I can see going, with Wharton in 2026.
-
Looks like we have basically took over Brighton tonight.
-
Ghost it. Get the kid used to disappointment.
-
Agreed to a kid's party about a month ago not realising it clashes with the game tomorrow ffs.
-
I think i might want that Bournemouth defender over him
- Today
-
We'll get Guehi for 35, I reckon
-
That forum wants shut down for their own benefit. Strange folk.
-
I’m not saying he wouldn’t want to join, I’m saying it will make it more difficult and more expensive for Parish to do a deal.
-
Ipswich have a similar sized fanbase to them. I'll give them Luton, but they went straight back down, as did Ipswich actually.
-
Champions League push. As big as us and Villa. As big as Forest is an arguement. Their fanbase can sustain Premier League football - despite all evidence to the contrary on the field and in gate receipts. Don't think I've seen as much delusion in a paragraph.
-
So actually he's thick as pig shit then.
-
Such a thing exist?
-
I don’t think Guehi has ever had any intention of signing a new deal. If we make Champions League, having also won a cup ourselves then you’d be a fool to stay at Palace, even if they had won the FA Cup.
-
Not if they are in the final year of their contract. Not that I think we go back in for him anyways.
-
Big problem if Palace win the FA Cup though. I’d imagine it would be harder and more expensive to get players out of Palace then.
