Howe wanted deals done early so we don't "miss out" on targets. Who have we missed out on so far due to not moving quickly enough?
-
Haha aye, mind you the Jarra Elvis story was documented on C4 back in the day

Fixtures 25/26 - First: Aston Villa (A); Last: Fulham (A)

Yep - we lost six out of seven league games after playing Man Utd -
On Dec. 2 we were 5th (3 points off 2nd) having beaten Chelsea and Man United the previous week, plus being robbed in Paris. By the end of the month we were 9th, out of the League Cup, and out of the Champions League. This past season Liverpool were second on Oct. 28, a point behind City. By Christmas they were 12 points ahead of City and 6 ahead of Arsenal having also beaten Leverkusen, Real Madrid, and Girona in the CL and advancing to the LC semifinal. It was Nov/Dec when City completely fell apart last season. I think it's a key stretch when you've already been through a couple months of multiple games a week and all that comes with it.

Alevis Broon is still Tyneside’s pre-eminent Elvis

Foden and Cherki midfield ffs.

According to the Alien wiki, the xenomorphs breath has a pleasant cinnamon and mint smell, as to not scare it's prey. Below is a bug eyed fucker with definitive proof.

His wages may be prohibitive

I don’t recall but the point is I’m sure that deal would have been relatively easy to do. Didn’t Burnley just get relegated? Again probably an easy deal to do. things will start moving in late June, july
-
Hmm, maybe there was an option? Either way I distinctly remember it not happening for a while after the season ended and with us being linked to Lodi, because everyone was just like 'just sign Targett ffs!'
-
I think Hebburn Ferry was about with Jarra Elvis,Simonside le Bon and Whitley Bay Huston, that little era
-
Thought we had an option to buy Targett?
-
Targett wasn't a loan made permanent, there was no obligation or option. His loan ended and we were linked with Lodi for weeks before he went to Forest and we then signed Targett. Pope was linked strongly and 'done' for a week or two before he officially signed. It's definitely partially because we're feeling starved and signings do tend to happen more in July, but it's not just the lack of signings but the lack of strong links that's making it more boring than in previous summers. .
-
There's a couple of Ferry's that I know of around the coast, one came from the south side of the Tyne, the other one has a connection to Holland
-
Target was a loan made permanent, pope was late June, Minteh wasn’t a first team signing and Kelly was a free transfer. the reality is we start making moves in July for whatever reason.
-
Yeah I know but I wanted/needed a CB i.e Woody or Albert as the wild card #27. Figured Schär is pretty much the modern Albert so went for Woody
-
I hope to fuck we're not signing Kühn. The guy is a one trick pony, weak as cats piss and has the heart of a mouse.
-
Howe can say what he likes but it’s far more likely things are being put in place to move early July after PSR enters a new cycle.
-
No, he went by Thomas Etherington during school then adopted the Ferry surname after if I recall correctly. He may well have gone by something else as well. His mam was dirty. He's from Shields/Tynemouth area if that rings a bell
-
There’s no stress at this moment in time for me as it’s very early days. Having said that, I still think we will be very slow at getting the players over the line. We will get some players in but I’d be surprised if we do it even close to something you can call “effectively” or similar.
-
Do we ever really sign players in June? Isak, Livramento, hall, Barnes & Tonali were all signed in July & August. Botman and Pope were signed in June but it was in last week of June
-
Yes please. Exact type of profile we need imo.
