Isn’t the London thing outdated from a time when footballers went out on the town and into nightclubs. Most players are teetotal and committed to their fitness and health nowadays, where London has no advantage whatsoever. Unless he’s just really into theatre?
  3. O'Reilly is a really good player, if he falls down the pecking order fldue to all the midfielders they have, then we should be all over trying to lure him away
  4. Man city not looking the best, I still say Pep should have left after he won the Champions league.

I'd be surprised if Joao Pedro didn't already live in London or nearby anyway tbh, it's hardly far.
  6. Aye it's not great news and we do have a track record of moving early. The last 3 were all considered coups and have proved important to us in different ways. It's not the end of the world and we can still do great business in the window. But it hasn't been a good start and there's obvious disruption upstairs.

I was going to say, the area Chelsea is in is really nice if not expensive (not a problem for footballers obviously) Unlike say where Spurs is located, which actually is a shithole

Can Chelsea just get their signings over and done with so the rest of the league can buy players without them reading about it on Twitter and putting a bid in too?

Lovely suit Harvey has on but what's the tag hanging from his button?
  11. Other than that though...
  12. Yep, it’s horrific looking back. Great documentary though.
  13. They bought PSG due to the WC bid - Nicholas Sarkozy is a fan of the club and wanted them to buy it, and Platini had a key vote on the 2022 WC bid, along with the Al-Thani ties with France. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/18/sarkozy-psg-bein-sports-questions-michel-platini-qatar-2022-world-cup
  14. Fuck me, that's an uncomfortable watch. Don't remember it like that at all. 😬

Chelsea is high end London as well. It might not have a historically huge supporter base, but you can imagine it would be a top attraction for foreign players wanting to be in London.
  16. Got ourselves another edge of your seat thriller in the CWC, is it?
  17. I feel like the only way to do deals quickly or decisively is to either be one of the elite clubs or just spend money like it's no object in the way that Man City or Chelsea do. Apart from that you are going to either have to be lucky to find a player who really wants to come and doesn't have other offers to consider, or a club that really wants to sell for financial reasons. Only so many players fall into that category and it might not be the ones we want.
  18. I don't follow French football so not about to argue. I just assumed because they represented Paris that made them the biggest club in France. Even so, I imagine that's what attracted the Qataris when they wanted to buy into the French league.

Their turnover is double ours - I think it is quite likely that they’ll have success again. London is shit - if you’re poor. Last I checked most Chelsea players are not in the lower strata of the socio-economic ladder. Most footballers - particularly those from overseas - are far more likely to choose to live in London than Newcastle. I would if I was them - and I’m from Newcastle.

This time last year I would rather of had Nkunku, but after watching him last season and the fact he's 28 this year, no thanks
  21. Cherki has done well to find a haircut worse than Cole Palmers.

Well, strange comments indeed! Firstly, their "Chelski" Abramovich era is over, they are unlikely ever to achieve anything like that level of success ever again. Secondly, living in London !!! The ONLY true shithole in the UK.
  23. TRon

I did think once they landed Delap that would leave the road clear for Pedro, but they might have read how we are planning to use as a support striker/wide man to Isak and thought "Hey! We can do that as well!"
