I shit myself every time there’s a ball in behind our defence so a pacey CB would be my first preference. We’re going to need bargains though given how many players we need.

The fans are going to have to get used to these types of crunch games just like the players. They are needed to help buoy the team at times like this and intimidate the opponent. I so hope it’s a bear pit and not one of angst. We’ll see soon enough. An early goal for us wouldn’t go a miss! -
League it clicked, UCL was very fortunate and typical Madrid weird jinx they have on it. Their squad needs investment, especially in defence where it’s aging and many injuries. Probably sell on of their attackers (Guler or Rodrygo) to fund the spend.
-
Watched Mcatee for city and he doesn´t stand out in any way. Typical technical footballer who prefers the pass backward than to take on his man, just doesn´t seem like an Eddie Howe player...
-
It's neither in reality. Both teams are very dangerous in their own way. We have the home advantage, but that's kinda negated by Joelinton being out. Any result is possible, that's why there will be nerves on both sides of the fanbase. Their supporters will be dreading it, and I know I am very apprehensive about it just because so much is riding on it.

Lavia in the middle and Caicedo on the right (tucks into the middle when they have ball) has made a huge difference to them and they seem much more solid at the moment. They also have a pacy attack and Palmer´s creativty. We will miss Big Joe a lot in this game. Question is, who will step up in the middle? I don´t think Willock is the one for this game as it will be a difficult battle in there, I would almost prefer gordon or Miley just for their battling qualities...

Kinda feels like we've gone from a lot of people foolishly acting like this will be an easy game because Chelsea are poor, to a lot of people dooming and acting like we don't have a chance real quickly. -
Have faith my man!

Aye, you'd imagine they'll have a B team out on Thursday, it didn't really need to be moved tbh. -

I said the other week that they have fixed their build up and now they're gonna start doing much better. Got laughed at, but hey ho. It will be a very tough game. We should play deep and counter attack them. Do not give them space and time for rapid transitions. -
I'm more nervous about this now their form is picking up and they have a lot of quality I don't think their European game will have any effect on them - they're not travelling and are in a position to play their second team I imagine all their preparation this week will be for SJP - it's a much bigger game for them knowing a win will most likely get CL same goes for us of course - I'm hoping we can play like we want it more and they shrivel up against our intensity - they do strike me as a team without much heart sometimes quality players just rise to the occasion thougn so I expect another stressful game either way

I've seen some pathetic atmospheres in day time games. I just want it to be a cauldron.

For some positions, you can get away with youth/average if you’ve got exceptional players in other positions. How many top sides have we seen over the years roll out average gunk at CB (even up top) but have a legit top CM and still win, because that’s the area that dominates games. We have a big step down in midfield when one is injured / off form and it’s been shown. If we’re to take a step it does feel that is a priority position on par with RCB and RW. Can see us going big there and rolling with GKs we got and a free striker / youth to balance things out.
-
Don’t think he suits Howe. Especially not with Miley around. If Miley goes on loan then Gomes is a good squad filler. I think we need a third powerhouse CM. That’s Howe’s preferred CM profile. That player can rotate with Tonali or Joelinton. Happy for Gomes to fill in for Bruno.

Remember when they got totally destroyed by City in the Champions League and then lost to Barca in the league? Then next season they won the league *and* the Champions League! Crazy how things change, huh?
-
Would sign Thiaw just to put his name in the Mr Plow song.
-
As for being an issue in Europe, Liverpool have won the thing and got to more finals with him as their RB. He’s not an issue. People will go “Yea, but Vini destroyed him”, so what? One game, it can happen if a top attacking player is on it. Salah on it in final, they maybe win 2-1 and no-one remembers Vini game.

I would have Botman in for Schar for this one, Fabs gets turned more easily when up against pacy strikers... We need as much pace as possible at the back, Livra and Botman would improve that. Would also have Gordon on for Murph, his aggression and pressing is much better and as we haven´t been giving Isak service of late, a change may be due??

Villa's wage bill is astronomical. It's unsustainable. Hence they will need a big sale every season to keep up, with Mitchell in charge dont think that will be our approach, better to pad out the squad with young talent without the high wages (Ndidi is on 75 k a week)
-
And look how their season has gone. Embarrassed in UCL, and being slapped by Barcelona domestically.
-
Watched Forest last night and came away thinking that Anderson doesn´t have the necessary level to improve our midfield. Yes, he would have been a better option than longstaff but the level is not anything near our other three...
