I'm sure I read somewhere that the 'merger' was just a myth. One of the clubs ceased to exist and the so the other changed its name to 'united'. Could be wrong but I'm sure I heard that somewhere.

To say we are the best is open to debate really. Song wise we are average. The way we excel above all others in England is in distance travelled and numbers. Take Man U or Liverpool for example. Sure they have fans all over the place and pack out away ends everywhere, but their regular away fans come from Manchester and Liverpool. But if you look at where these two cities are located, they rarely have to travel over 150 miles for an away game. That added with the success they constantly achieve makes away travel for them a piece of piss.

Does anyone remember the beambacks from about 95-97ish? I remember being at the Odeon to watch a beamback of the HOME game with Coventry when Ferdinand scored for us, must of been the beginning of the 95-96 season iirc. It was absolutely packed!, plus there was that fit Ingrid bird from Metro radio pushing her tits in my face so I was more than happy. I remember watching the Coventry away game about 97ish when we hammered them something like 5-0 when Shearer scored a couple, Stephen Glass scored too and I think it was when Shay Given didnt realise Dion Dublin was behind him and threw the ball out infront to kick it upfield when Dublin sneaks out from behind Given to tap the ball in the goal! That beamback was in one of the suites in the Milburn and as i recall there was hardly nee fucker in there. Just me and me mates and a couple of others. I think they must have stopped the beambacks shortly after that.

They're smoggies, and support Boro and Liverpool. Nah, i've been to see them at the Metro Radio and O2 and both times thay have mentioned coming from Newcastle and supporting the Toon. As far as I'm aware they all met at uni up here but none of them are from Newcastle. You only have to listen to their songs to know that their accent is Smoggie not Geordie. I think the band is based in Newcastle though.
