  1. Yeah all very fair and valid points. I know a lot of people who see defending as 'stopping football' or less of an art as an attacking display of a winger, AM or striker Personally thought I like to see the game in the round so to speak and love a good tackle (fnar fnar), or great positional play (shepherding an attacker away from goal etc), which I think we are kind of losing from the game a wee bit. As for the list of today's 'best' Messi and Ronaldo are well ahead of the rest of the best for me. These two will join the all time greatest list imo. not sure the likes of Zlatan et al will quite do that. You wanting Martial in there as well Froggy>>
  2. Fair point but it is a game of defence and attack (obviously save for the revolutionary approach of NUFC at the moment ; none of either). To watch a Beckenbaeur, Breitner, Baresi or Maldini perform at their highest levels of defensive brilliance always gave me as much joy as watching a Zidane or Platini ripping the arse out of a defence. Maybe we are lacking a lot of true great defenders in the world game now actually?...
  3. Always my biggest bug bear when it comes to daft lists like this. THE greatest player ever was Beckenbaeur imo, yet hardly gets a look in against lesser players like Cruyff etc...always biased towards the attackers. Lahm has been one of the greats of the past 5/10 years yet never gets a nod at all. attacking pffff....for pansies.
  4. This may be the Achilles heel for him over here imo. our press are fucking vitriolic and whilst a little bit of eccentricity is tolerated, especially if accompanied with losing (Holloway etc), I can see some being rubbed up the wrong way by his 'charm' and the knives coming out. Lad would be better suited at a top, top European league and side imo. He ain't going to be one of the boys over here and that may ratchet up the pressure....I hope not hat I'm bitter against the bin dippers mind.
  5. Potentially very good appointment, obviously. I'm not too convinced that this wont go tits up quite soon though. not quite sure how his unique and rather 'eccentric' ways will fare in the PL. By all accounts he is very different to anything we have seen before and the press over here don't tend to like different. Also the mentality of PL players. especially young British players is very different to that he will be used to working with. It's either going to be inspired, queue a wankfest of scouse love and trophies galore...ugh Or it's gonna be a short an bumpy affair imo Personally hoping for the latter obviously. I'm plumping for the this is a mistake myself, for him and them. (fingers crossed)
  6. Palace bound if anywhere link up with his mate and the true 'special one'
  7. Excellent experience for the lad. impressive 'natural' finisher by looks of it. All boding well for us in the championship next season. Alongside a big un..
  8. Rodgers looks like a mackem manager to me, More so than fat Sam imo. Could this throw a spanner in the works re them...?
  9. this, this is the guy YOU above all people choose to get all optimistic about! god bless ya KaKa
  10. May end up as a PFA representative... Or more likely as Figures says, doing a stretch of porridge. What a f***ing waste.
  11. Shola is/was 3 times the player this useless fucker is....and there is no slight on anyone's ability worse than that. Get the fucker off the wage bill as soon as possible imo.
  12. Think we can get something here myself. Fancy us to score two at least....Mitrovic getting off the mark. Gonna plump for 2-2 draw.
  13. This fucking club man... This cannot possibly be true.
  14. They sure will love those trips to Hull and Bolton!
  15. Not too sure he won't have cacked his pants long before January myself. if McClaren doesn't walk after next three defeats I expect Mike to pull the trigger. No way will he gamble with the pot of gold at the end of this seasons rainbow. May well splurge in January but I will be surprised if its Schteve spending the money.
  16. What was his hair like though??
  17. say it as you see it bro...
  18. This has surprised me the most. I have rarely read or heard anyone being negative about his technical coaching ability, quite the opposite in fact. Yet any effect on us is bloody invisible, same gutless and spineless tripe. Maybe less 'hoof' but ostensibly the same deficiencies. Piss poor organised defence,,,organised. Toothless, wingless, pace-less, invention-less... Just looks the wrong man at the wrong club. Happens at times. Just not suited at all from the get go imo. Plus the whole not wanting to be here really has got to be having some impact?
  19. should have gone 'foreign' when we replaced the last useless twat. Obvious position with our buying policy. Cathro for a while imo. Think McClaren will walk away.
  20. Can't agree with you on this Dave. 6 games or not we are s***. No defence, no goal threat, no cohesion..nowt. Team selection all wrong. Utterly futile pretending we are not in the s*** and his team selection and motivation is not going to change. we are going down with him, and this is the big season money wise. I firmly believe he will be gone by Christmas as Mike will not want to gamble with the multi millions. maybe this is just the culmination of years of pish and despite who is in charge the chickens are coming home to roost..but I think he's a dead man walking already.
  21. not good enough sadly. weak. in physicality and mentally at this level.
  22. Just in from the game 0-5 at home to Dunfermline..lucky to get 0. bollocks.
