  3. I honestly believe Given would have gotten a hand to the 2nd and made the 3rd a lot more difficult for Utaka. Going in 1-2 at half time is totally different than 1-3. Harper always concedes goals. It isn't a coincidence. He's just very very ordinary. Not poor, just absolutely average (at his best).
  4. Man Utd @home 0-1 (Cantona) Left the ground knowing we'd just lost the League.
  5. The wages are too high, I think. The only way clubs can pay them is through massive debt, howking up prices, etc. I don't think it's sustainable. How many Premiership clubs have gone to the wall? If the money wasn't there, they couldn't offer them the contracts. They generate the money they take from the club imo.
  6. The players generate the income of the clubs on the whole. Why shouldn't they be rewarded? Smacks of jealousy tbh. They earn obscene amounts of money because they generate obscene amounts of money for their employers.
  7. That was the stand that was most commonly used for admin. Reception, boardroom, changing rooms, boxes (as they were back then). Was comparable to our current East Stand in size. Maybe a little larger?
  8. Dein has always struck me as being a businessman trying to be a football guy rather than the other way around. From the outside looking in, it's always appeared to have been Wenger running the football side of things from top to bottom.
  9. Relocation of Leazes Terrace? Or of the whole club? I suspect (hope) you mean the latter. The latter. Ah, I retract my earlier comment in that case. Personally I don't see the problem, we are not desperate for a new stadium nor are we likely to be in the foreseeable future. The fact that we play in virtually the city centre makes us special as a club. I would abhor having to play our games in a identikit stadium on an Industrial Estate in the middle of nowhere. And I don't care if it could seat 80,000 or whatever.
  10. Would love to be at the game. I think it will be great. I hope win win very much but we might get beateded.
  11. http://www.gunnersonhigh.com/squad/arsenal_transfers_in.html Wenger's buys since 1999.
  12. I'll be perfectly honest Parky, I'm not particularly familiar with what the current regulations actually are regarding young players! Smaller clubs do deserve more compensation however. Perhaps a standard % of any future transfer fees of 'their' player? There is no easy answer but it's inevitable that the larger clubs will always be seen as a more attractive option for any young player. If the lad gets the chance to sign for Arsenal at 15, who can stop, or indeed blame, him? Regarding the Arsenal policy, I think the onus should be on the other clubs to emulate Wenger and compete rather than just stop them from signing players under a certain age.
  13. But is it good for the game? It's good for his employers! Nothing to stop any other manager from finding these young players and signing them before Wenger gets there first. You're missing the point. Oh I get the point! It's not good for the game in general for a clutch of young talent to be at a few clubs. My point is that Arsenal are benefitting from appointing an excellent manager who has established a fantasyic scouting network. They're reaping the benefits of having a good manager. The talent is out there, Wenger is finding it. We know what Arsenal are doing. What is your opinion regarding the point in question? I thought the point of the article was to criticise Arsenal's youth policy?

I think most people now accept this tbh. He made his debut 7 years ago now... I feel sorry for Shola, we cannot fault his dedication to the club, when we were in stook with injuries he played through the pain for us and risked his own career by doing so, putting off an operation on his hip, could you see many from the rest of our squad doing that? Oh I wasn't having a go at him - I was just surprised that it was that long ago tbh. He seems like a canny bloke and I think he genuinely loves the club. That said, he can love the club and be as loyal as he wants but it won't make him a better player. He's had 166 chances to impress in the last 7 years. It's time for him to move on and he'll need to be replaced.

    My Interesting Day

Hear what you're saying but I think you're a little naive if you think you're the only one who's being told this stuff. Also, it's a forum that anyone, journalists included, COULD join. Not saying they do btw.
