Surviving Gazza, TV documentary tonight at 10pm on Four
madras replied to nobby_solano's topic in Football
Course I f***ing do! But he's a self-centered alcoholic that's had more chances than anyone else. Ok, let's all give him the get out clause of 'mental health problems' when in fact you're supporting him because he was a toon player My argument was for the family who have had some harsh and unfair comments about them here. Maybe you don't understand children? FFS. Let's stick up for the guilty and f*** the innocent Ridiculous shallow people. I wish him well but not at the expense of others. have a look in the general chat thread about this and what i said then in which i say much the same about people being more sympathetic due tio his nufc connections. but if mental issues are involved your Let's stick up for the guilty and f*** the innocent attitude is naive and my argument is that if his family were that concerned they shoyuldn't really be making a documentary about it unless they are getting properly aided from the mental health authorities. -

Surviving Gazza, TV documentary tonight at 10pm on Four

What's shameful is making a documentary about a bloke who clearly has mental problems, had to be rescued from an asylum to take part, and was in no fit state to make rational decisions. Then when he inevitably pulled out to blacken his character even more than it already was. A total set up. If he wasn't considering topping himself before this he sure as hell will be now. I wouldn't argue against that necessarily Still doesn't contradict my point though By necessarily I mean; if he watches it and wants to top himself even more...then let him. It should open his eyes seeing his kids stressed over him...not make him even more self-centered. you don't really understand the "mental problems" bit do you ? -
teams get booed when going top of the league. aye expectations have changed........reflects the society in which it is played. short term, reactionary and overhyped.

possibly already mentioned but would xisco not fall foul of the "no more than 2 clubs in a year rule" ? -
The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
madras replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
I always find the first few days we get the nob heads like Megson & Allardyce whinging about not being able to buy players when they want. Yet by reckoning Megson has only bid for James Morrison (WBA) only to get the knockback, the ginger c*** could found out months before what price WBA were going to sell at. Could have added Roeder to that list a few seasons back for the first few days of the window and the day after the last. Waking up to headlines of 'Roeder Rues Window' doesn't help the morning coffee go down any easier with a picture of him in the technical area, lips tightly pursed. Aye. Look at Real Madrid they knew they had to hit the ground running as soon as the Spanish winter break was over & went out got Klass & Lass in for the first game back, that is how it is f***ing done. This nation football clubs are obsessed with buying on the last day of transfer windows. not only that but they tied up the deals before the window even opened. -
Which means one thing. Media to resume their wankfest and laud him as the 8th wonder of the world when he scores the winner against us... ..in the last minute. In front of the Kop. I f***ing hate him. Clive Tyldesley: "There is only one man who can hit a strike like that only a day after facing ABH chages in court, and that man is Steven Gerrard. Quite possibly the greatest English midfielder there ever has been". Twats. did tyldesley really say that ? worse than brian moore if he did.

every player will want to play here if we are their best option. how many players in the entire world would pick over man utd, arsenal or chelsea ?

It's the Mail so I wouldn't pay much attention to it. That said, it's disgusting if the bit about Bridge being on £90kpw is at all true. Players like him and his two clubs (current and former) are ruining football. Did any NUFC fans complain about 'ruining football' when we signed Shearer for a WR fee ? I know I didn't because he could(and should) have been the final piece in our jig-saw for success... Its City's turn to have a rich benefactor now and good luck to them - ours has simply cocked-up... we never had a rich benefactor. -

I have that feeling as well. Carroll doesn't look like a goal scorer, I think Joe likes him because he's big and strong. Xisco looks less physical but he looks like he might have more quality around the penalty area. Hard to tell from a couple of brief outings, but I'd like to see him in a decent side before i write him off. not just the goals but all round play -

from the limited viewings i've had of both players, xisco is definitly worth a go infront of carroll -

The problem with Guthrie that I can see is in choosing who to play with him. He's not particularly strong in breaking down play and hes not particularly good at attacking. He's just very neat and tidy, makes few mistakes and works hard. I like him but I wouldnt know whether to play him with a big defensive midfielder or an attacking player. I think Id prefer to use Guthrie as a defensive midfielder alongside an attacking player, but I dont think he excels in that area. I'd partner him next to a solid defensive midfielder, I don't really buy into this creative attacking midfielder that people want in a 4-4-2. I reckon his passing alone is quite creative and he'd be able to focus on that much more if he wasn't running around looking after grandfather Butt. That's not to say he can't be improved upon of course. When Barton is back I hope they are paired up instead of Butt keeping his place though. other way round unfortunatly. watch a game and see how many times butt is looking round to see where guthrie is then has to make the move himself. guthrie played well at pomey and home to spurs but is largely anonymous and leaves too much to butt who is struggling to do his own job.

Bentley will never be fit to lace Beckham's boots. it happens when anyone has a decent run of games like he did at blackburn. MOTD wanks over them, often for one or two good touches in a game in which they were largely mediocre, so those without a brain just take it all on board that X must be good. then after 3 months of doing nothing, which of course isn't highlighted by hansen etc, so the brainless ones still have it in their minds that X is brilliant because they haven't been told otherwise.

Aye both statements have been made because the transfer window is opening. And the bit about the Liverpool game being down to them being sick of Kinnear is absolute bollocks. They didn't seem that bothered against Portsmouth. ashleys comment was strangely timed imo. feb 2nd would have made more sense.

Not yet, no. so you are reading what you want into the events of the last 18 months. Do you also think we aren't worse off than 18 months ago ? Are you saying you know better than Shay Given, and think he should give your man more time ? he isnt 'his' man though is he? he's the person who happens to own the club, just because you've pledged allegiance to one man doesnt mean the rest of us have to do the same Pledge Allegiance ? I've just got an inclination to actually support people who do well for the club, and don't particularly feel the same about people who don't. its a shame you haven't got an inclination to review your opinion of people once they start doing the opposite of 'well for the club', you're allowed to reconsider the evidence you know, it isnt a sign of weakness. quite the opposite infact. scientists do it quite a bit, seems to work for them........ Choosing to back your manager and show ambition, rather than the opposite, is probably the most important thing you need from a board of directors. If you and others have learned nothing from the last 18 months, surely this will be first ? Supporting a change from a board that shows ambition to one that won't, is only going to go one way. choosing the manager in the first place is the most important thing,as has been pointed out to you enough times....1 wrong choice is forgivable,2 sets off alarm bells,3 is enough,if you are employed,to cost you your job. no. Good managers leave s*** clubs for ambitious ones. You still appear to have a problem with us not appointing one of the 2 or 3 winning managers because everybody else does it ? i have a problem with those 3 managerial appointments being crap from day one of each of their respective tenures................ and everyone knowing it was going to happen. wrong. Some people even supported Souness right until the end. ok then....vast majority.

end of year report. since signing up to betfair in april I am £202 to the good (£100 taken out towards my season ticket....the rest is in the account)

If I were Shay Given, I'd sack my solicitor. Nice to see JK taking a leaf out of Keegans book and protecting his employers 24 hours before a major cup game. Not that we believe everything we see on TV or in the press, unless you are the type to believe what you want to believe. oh the irony.

Like quite a few people on here who read what they wanted to read. our demise of the last 18 months and current shambles isn't a figment of anyones imagination, other than those who refuse to admit it. only 18 months ?
