N'Zogbia was awful though, he seems to have escaped criticism on here for some reason. I cant understand why he doesnt use N'Zogbia and Milner on their natural sides and tell them to get out wide when we are in possession. As has been said already, he didnt have the bottle to take off either Butt or Smith but when N'Zogbia had offered so little all game, i can understand why he did a like for like replacement. Still no idea what he was trying to acheive by leaving them on anyway... That aside, i've no idea what instructions N'Zogbia was given and whether he was following them. Milner did offer some width when he came on but did very little of note. milner and n'zogbia can both go inside and outside and with the players we have at our disposal we need the width,not necissarily hitting the by-line and lumping crosses in but using that as an option. after the shit of the past few weeks allardyce could do worse than tell those two that are going to get a run in their proper positions,let the other plasyers get used to having the options of passing wide and spreading things.

I think Wullie is right mate. Opening the game out would have gave him more opportunity. As things were, he was surrounded by 2 men all the time, they knew he was our only major threat from wide positions. i'm agreeing with NE5 and wullie. allardyce has sooooooooo much to answer for.

I know a lot of people who have no interest in Newcastle who think he's been found out and can't hack it away from Bolton. They expected him to do well but now think he can't. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Christ, we gave f****** Roeder and Souness longer, two horrific managers, with absolutely nothing in their history to suggest they'd ever get it right, but Allardyce has. Allardyce hasn't turned out to be as great as I thought either, but then maybe I am (we, all of us) just expecting too much too soon. Obviously performances like the last two simply are not on, but we really do need to get a grip of ourselves as a set of supporters. The other games, whilst poor, disappointing, demoralising, well, they happen over the course of a season. Not many teams go all season playing great, and not many managers get their teams playing the way they actually want them to within such a short time. All teams have bad patches. I know if this exact post had been used for Souness or Roeder, I'd have pissed myself laughing at it, but the fact is Allardyce has a record of building teams. That record is enough for me to keep faith in him and expect a season of progression. The season's not even over, yet we have people acting like we've just finished it, and finished it just above the relegation zone. what pisses me off most is when allardyce came i thought at least we'd be organised and tough to beat,it can be done with moderate players. instead he is activly making us weaker week in and week out. if we are at the end of the season and looking back on these games i've mentioned and that is it as bad as it got then it may not be too bad,but i can only see it continuing. can you understand why he has played the line-up's,formations and tactics he has ?

You've obviously forgot about Boumsong and Faye. you forgot woodgate was a january signing....man utd signed evra and i think vidic in the january window. For Woodgate, Leeds desperately needed the money, so that was easy. Evra made a big fuss over not being allowed to go to Manyoo so got his move, while Vidic came from Russia at the end of the Russian season. and that means that players and good ones at that do move in january.

for a change it's not even the players being boo'ed,it's the managers decisions,the players know this.

I can't recall an example of when the home fans booed a home player and his response was to up his game and suddenly deliver a blinding performance for the remainder of the match. if you get booed by the home fans when you're away from home, then in many cases it will drive you to up your game. Especially if you possess the footballing talent of Mr S Gerrard. and my issue with booing gerrard is the reason he was booed. He had a shitter for england, so f****** what ! it has nowt to do with a game in which NUFC are playing LFC. these days the fans inside the ground are more arsed about where they can direct their negative abuse, rather than singing their hearts out and getting behind the side. it is like a f****** pantomime. opposition players are often boo'ed,it's an attempt to put them off,sometimes it works,sometimes it doesn't.

Butt was our best player when? yesterday Butt was the biggest culprit in our first half performance yesterday. He just did what he always does, started trying to play once the game was over. playing on the right of a midfield 3 to start with and no wing back coming outside. he at least tried to get the formation going. the biggest culprit was allardyce,on the playing side the formation relies heavily on the wingbacks at least taking up the proper positions,even for nuisance sake,neither did,offensivly we had no passing options because of it,defensivly thery didn't mark player or zone to the point where for 30mins you couldn't tell wether it was 5-3-2,3-5-2 or 4-4-2.

the one game where we played the ball into feet and chest,not just lob it up for 50-50 headed battles.

i believe fifa should have the same representation requirements for managers and coaches as it does for players.

I noticed Butt having a go at Geremi, the only problem with Butt having to shout at him is the lost opportunity through the delayed reaction. Was that the time when Butt ran into a couple of Liverpool players and within seconds we were under pressure again? no,geremi just jogged towards the space and butt played the ball into the space in an attempt to get geremi to go into the space. we did lose the ball but by getting geremi there he may not need to be told,cajoled,directed to get there next time.......unfortunatly it didn't work.

he defended quite well but gave the ball away a lot. even failing with easy passes. Who didn't? Literally every single player on our team couldn't pass it yesterday... bit of a coincidence. finish the sentence man......he gave the ball away when passing to an unmarked team mate 5 yards away and was more wayward than the rest. it always stands out more when you give the ball away so close to your own goal.

At least he tried, some of his passing was poor though. the passing was poor throughout the team but he also tried to get forward,unlike the supposedly more attack minded emre. the game was summed up by butt in possession in the middle screaming at geremi to move into the acres of space on the right and geremi only doing it reluctantly.

then again he spent a wad of cash in the summer. also, and i admit to not having seen citeh more than just on tele but according to the press a few of their points have come from games where they haven't really performed. for citeh it may best be judged at the end of the season.
