  1. i've added man citeh/kaiserslautern in as another double.
  2. Were you calling Taylor earlier this season when he was hardly putting a foot wrong? His "performances on the pitch" this season can't be questioned. As for players wanting what they feel they're owed, why do you think Carroll changed his agent last year other than to ultimately negotiate him a big fat pay rise? i dont really get what taylors playing to the crowd is either ? Seriously? That's secondary to whether he's the last man off the pitch, I was a bit concerned as he almost mugged himself and went off second last yesterday, but he showed a good level of concentration to notice the man behind him, stop and turn to applaud the almost empty stand and delay until he was the only player that loves the fans more than life itself left on the pitch. Deserves 104K a week for his exits this season. he's always the last off away from home applauding the travelling fans when others often f***ed off without a peep....the t*** eh ? people dont mind andy carrolls violence providing he puts in a performance but taylor gets stick for this. this deserves a place in the "what baffles you" thread. EXACTLY. "Oh Coloccini, I'll let you shag my wife" As they say. A player that performs on the pitch can do whatever the f*** they like. A player that doesn't perform on the pitch, but mouths off like he's the best thing since the bread knife is seen through. Taylor has performed on the pitch this season. FACT. No doubt. But he won't play again this season...and we know he's not the player in the Premier League that he is in the Championship. some twisting to make a case for carroll if he's been the aggressor going on here.
  3. and you'd get done for it. i actually doubt you would go for him, i've seen it often enough and it normally stays a battle of insults.

  6. how would one pretend to be one of the best players ? looks more like he's paying the price for getting whacked off an in form forward.

  8. Hmm, Neil Lennon anyone? totally agree. he should've been done for it, the vast majority of others would've been.

    Martin O'Neill

hows that work ? he may come here with one of the best records but it would be what he achieves here that would make him one of the best we've had. dalglish had big league championships to his name but i doubt many would put him in our top 3 over the last 30 years.
  10. does rooney already have a caution for assault and is he up soon for glassing someone ? so are we basing this punishemnt on what has gone on previously, both incidents which took place outside of the club? or on this alone? we are basing it on the way we would if he were anyone else. if it were jimmy down the street and he's found to be the aggressorof this latest incident you'd be screaming for him to be put away for at least a year.
  11. camburr/newcastle double (kiss of death i know) also £10 carroll antime scorer at 2.49

    The RIP thread

yes......................and no. an obituary is ok, especially when it's a player we are aware of. its not good when people throw in a 'RIP' to show they care when really they don't know squat about the person. putting that 'RIP' in is as tacky as those who had their 6 yr olds sign Robsons condolence book. I didn't know Jackie Milburn, or see him play, but I read enough about Newcastle United's history to know that he was a legend, on and off the pitch. I hope to god that my kids end up supporting NUFC, and if we never hit the heights we've hit in recent years I'll make sure I tell them about the time when we used to be good, and the world's greatest players actually used to play for us, and if they sign books of condolence for Shearer, Beardsley or anyone else then I don't think its tacky, more a case of giving them a proper football education. i took my kids to see the robson memorial tribute. i signed the book. they wanted to, i wouldnt let them as, to me, it wouldn't have been honest, But if you let them, and part of doing that involved you taking them home and spending the rest of the night telling them what he had achieved, and threw a few DVD's in to boot, then it might have been worth it. Not that I'm telling you how to bring up your kids or anything they know about him but at aged 6 and 10 can they honestly say "thanks" or "RIP".....no Maybe not, but in my experience kids choose the team they follow for life from the ages of 6 - 10, and if letting them get involved with something the grown ups are doing that they might not completely understand but are interested in, and that means they end up supporting NUFC and not one of the Sky 4 then I would drop my principled stand! how many people do you think went along, some with kids, some without, to sign that book and give the most lovely platitudes even though it really mattered little to them ? Dont know mate, sadly probably quite a few. There did seemed to be a slight element of Princess Diana syndrome, although I wasnt in the north east at the time so cant really say. Point I was getting that though was more that a genuine SBR fan who knew his career and what he had done, might not necessarly be being tacky by getting a young kid to sign a book of condolense or something similar that was the reason i wouldn't let mine sign as there were tacky parts and for them to sign would have been dishonest. it seemed like there were people who went because they thought they ought to rather than wanted to.

  17. noble definitly over the last couple of years though he seems to have gone missing a bit this season. now that i think about it he has scott parkerish tones about him.
  18. got to be honest mate, i was about 18 at the time and non too supportive of the miners, mainly due to scargill stance on not having a ballot and his staunch refusal that even pits losing cash should be shut. however the way some turned against their own disgusted me and the police actions were insidious. in my wilder moments i'll still claim scargill was a thatcher stooge. he done everything she wanted.
  19. The Yankees wage bill is £134m, which the biggest in Football can certainly afford, even with having to spend money on transfer fees. I'd be interested to see a breakdown of their total revenue, just because I like numbers then again they do play 632 games per season.
  20. someone told me at the time that it originally goes back even beyond that, maybe even general strike days (and a mates grandfather hated durham mners for something that happened in that one) but i'm not at all sure. i do know theres been a load of trouble for a long time between the pit men associated with nottingham area and those from the mansfield area.
  21. to be fair they could see it as sweeping s*** under the carpet. in any other business/industry we'd say it stinks. I don't know many industries or businesses that will shoot themselves in the foot to please a few headline writers. no. i mean the journalist would see nufc keeping it in house as sweeping it under the carpet, like catholic churchmen molesting kids or chemical spills. if we keep quiet it may just be forgotten about. The same journalists will be tearing us to shreds if we don't get promotion. win win for the journo They do their jobs, the club have to do theirs. and we hopefully be honest with ourselves. do you think it would have been treat differently had taylor been playing and in form and we werent relying on caroll ? i do do you think if caroll had done this at any other club most on here would have been scathing ? i do. would the same people have slagged off carrolls club for doing what nufc are ? i think so. I'm fickle. No problem with that. is that taking being honest with yourself too far ?
