  1. noble definitly over the last couple of years though he seems to have gone missing a bit this season. now that i think about it he has scott parkerish tones about him.
  2. got to be honest mate, i was about 18 at the time and non too supportive of the miners, mainly due to scargill stance on not having a ballot and his staunch refusal that even pits losing cash should be shut. however the way some turned against their own disgusted me and the police actions were insidious. in my wilder moments i'll still claim scargill was a thatcher stooge. he done everything she wanted.
  3. The Yankees wage bill is £134m, which the biggest in Football can certainly afford, even with having to spend money on transfer fees. I'd be interested to see a breakdown of their total revenue, just because I like numbers then again they do play 632 games per season.
  4. someone told me at the time that it originally goes back even beyond that, maybe even general strike days (and a mates grandfather hated durham mners for something that happened in that one) but i'm not at all sure. i do know theres been a load of trouble for a long time between the pit men associated with nottingham area and those from the mansfield area.
  5. to be fair they could see it as sweeping s*** under the carpet. in any other business/industry we'd say it stinks. I don't know many industries or businesses that will shoot themselves in the foot to please a few headline writers. no. i mean the journalist would see nufc keeping it in house as sweeping it under the carpet, like catholic churchmen molesting kids or chemical spills. if we keep quiet it may just be forgotten about. The same journalists will be tearing us to shreds if we don't get promotion. win win for the journo They do their jobs, the club have to do theirs. and we hopefully be honest with ourselves. do you think it would have been treat differently had taylor been playing and in form and we werent relying on caroll ? i do do you think if caroll had done this at any other club most on here would have been scathing ? i do. would the same people have slagged off carrolls club for doing what nufc are ? i think so. I'm fickle. No problem with that. is that taking being honest with yourself too far ?

    The RIP thread

yes......................and no. an obituary is ok, especially when it's a player we are aware of. its not good when people throw in a 'RIP' to show they care when really they don't know squat about the person. putting that 'RIP' in is as tacky as those who had their 6 yr olds sign Robsons condolence book.

In which to place all football obituaries. First up our very own Charlie Crowe.....http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/charlie-crowe-winghalf-and-stalwart-of-the-great-newcastle-side-of-the-early-1950s-1924379.html and who rememberes chelseas slightly eccentric goalie Petar Borota...http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/petar-borota-flamboyant-goalkeeper-who-kept-the-fans-entertained-during-a-fallow-period-for-chelsea-1928776.html

  16. long memories considering it goes back to the early (jobs) and mid (scabs) 80's. Fans of Chile, when they're playing Bolivia, chant "Let's go to the beach!", referring to a war which resulted in Chile taking Bolivia's only stretch of Pacific coastline -- in 1879! Passions ran very high during the miners' strike. I don't often get into fights, but I remember a conversation I had with a guy from Nottingham in a bar in Majorca quickly come to blows in summer 1985. Some Spaniards had to pull us apart. i mean its fun to hear young lads whose politics would actually have been thatcherite had they been out if nappies shouting "scab".

  18. tromso/odd comes in. reinvest that original stake (£20) on anderlecht/real madrid and keep an eye in play on the rosenborg situation. well with real 3-1 to the good and anderlecht romping it earlier it's been a canny day. would have been better had rubin won but hey ho. lost a fiver on rosenborg mind. they were 4/1 with 10mins left. (i may be a twat but i'm an honest twat)

    Sunderland...

is it your birthday ? honestly thought we were above this.
  20. i thought ketsbaia left after only a few months.

  22. To be fair, it hasn't looked too bad until this lot kicked off. it's because they are winning and doing well for crying out loud, not because there is gernuine comradery between the players. I am pretty sure that even the likes of Enrique and Jonas have been saying how the players all go out together far more than previously and players like Harewood and Simpson have remarked on the great spirit among the players. I think there's probably something more to it than just winning, although that obviously is a big factor. what would you expect them to say....and they said t last year aswell.

  24. if taylor didn't attack caroll then carroll didn't really have reason to attack taylor.
