  1. It doesn't make any sense. While all the above may have 'done wrong' (apart from the fans. Blaming them is daft) the situation we find ourselves in now is completely Ashley's fault. He owns this club, he wields the power and he can change things if they're not working. He answers to no one but himself.
  2. So would i. Did you also nearly qualify for the second round of the Champions League with close to a pub team? If you think that's enough proof to suggest him as an actual candidate, then fair enough. I totally disagree though. It's churlish to suggest he got that far on blind luck. It's clear he's a talented manager but just how talented we wont find out until he's managed elsewhere so why not take a chance? Give him five years, give him cash and allow him to do his thing. He can't be any friggin worse than the shower in charge now.
  3. Two words - Leeds United, it could happen to us. No it couldn't. Leeds didn't own their most saleable assets. NUFC does.
  4. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/03/19/peter-beardsley-urges-fans-to-lay-off-shola-ameobi-72703-23182829/ Legend or not he's talking complete and utter shite.
  5. He had a killer first touch & that means good. I was going for the old "first touch of a sexual deviant" angle personally.
  6. I love him too if he didn't have the first touch of Fred West and could find the back of the net more than once every half a dozen games.
  7. Aye, I bet NUSC were in John Anderson's ear telling him to lie for them. So it was a bit like the "Ashley-Wise ~Outt!" banner on the Monument? Yep, unless you're seriously suggesting John Anderson is stirring the pot at NUFC for his own gains? Bet he's planning to take over the world, evil genius that he is. Who is he, anyway? Seriously? Go hang your head Oh, him! I just read it like he was some member of the NUSC committee or something! Still think that rumour is bollocks, like. "Oh, him!" he cries, after a quick look on Wiki Jesus wept.
  8. possibly. but i'm sure any nufc fans who have been to italy to watch football will back me in my absolute disgust at a large section of italian supporters and the italian authorities. There is a hooliganism problem in Italy no doubt, but I think it also speaks volumes that when ours fans have went to Italy they've came back largely unscathed. We have our idiots but by and large we're very well behaved in Europe whereas some teams, the London ones especially like to think they're in Green Street. Christ, even when it did kick off at one of our games it wasn't even our fans who were involved. the kid who got burnt inside the san siro didn't come back unharmed and i know a few who went to roma and got a kicking.........maybe its cos its us the press aren't interested.....imagine if that flare thrown into the nufc fans had been in man utd or chelsea fans (oh and thanks fred for saying that, yes you saw it but neglecting to put it in the clubs official report) Hence the reason 'largely unscathed'. West Ham went to Palermo and there was a handful of stabbings, we went a few games later and very little kicked off. I'm not saying there isn't trouble because there clearly is but we do seem better behaved and more level headed than most.

  11. Nah. Even if you do read it that way, then you can't ignore that he's blaming the owners for causing the fans' reaction and therefore the responsibility would ultimately lie at their door. I have to say that to pick out that rather tenuous interpretation and ignore the rest of what was said suggests that you might possibly have an agenda against the writer, wonder why that might be? You did see the quote from Keegan didn't you, why no accusations sent in his direction? Do I have an agenda? Not trying to be smart or anything but it depends on the interpretation of agenda. I think Ryder is a very poor journalist but I have nothing against him as really the Chronicle has had its day in my opinion. You're right that ultimately blame would lie with Ashley for causing the bad feeling amongst the fans but the way I read the paragraph I pointed out it was saying that the negativity from fans was transferring itself to the pitch which is why we're now in a relegation fight. It may be a short paragraph on a theme not central to his blog but sometimes these small snippets reveal a lot! Reason I posted is that I wanted to see if I read it correctly, nothing more. I ignored the rest as in my opinion the rest isn't worth commenting on and as I said I wouldn't get into a discussion with Ashley sympathisers (which is how the thread would go if I brought up the other issues) as I haven't got a lot of time for them. Just as they probably haven't got a lot of time for my views. None of us are going change our positions. With regards to Keegan’s comment, he may have had a go at the fans in the past when we’ve gone through a sticky spell but I very much doubt he would blame the fans for being in a relegation dog fight. There’s only two reasons for being in a relegation fight; poor players or a poor manager, a mixture of both. You read it right. Lee is blaming the way supporters have reacted to the Mikes’ ‘eventful stint in charge’ for the team’s failings, not how Mike has actually run the club. Selling your best players and appointing a joke manager with a dicky heart has nothing to do with NUFC staring relegation in the face according to Lee. Sold our best players?, like who? http://www.bbc.co.uk/tyne/content/images/2006/12/11/given_367x470.jpg One of our best players.

  13. A lot of fans who get stabbed are looking for trouble. There are some fairly notorious areas in Rome where Ultras meet up and fans are told in no uncertain terms not to venture there. Unfortunately this just gives the hard nuts ideas and they go down there and get shivved. Own fault really.
  14. Aye, I bet NUSC were in John Anderson's ear telling him to lie for them.
  15. Already happened. Been any fall out from it? Probably the biggest thing thats happened in Prudhoe since the castle was built John Anderson was there and he told all in attendence that a fee was agreed for Given much earlier in the transfer window than was let on and the only reason it took so long to go through was stalling on our part because Ashley and Llambias wanted to trot out the old "didn't have enough time to spend" excuse rather than everyone find out we weren't getting paid until the summer.
  16. Being a member of NUSC I find that pretty insulting. It would fucking kill me to see this club go down and I will take no amount of pleasure at all in coming on here and saying "I told you so". Same goes for the lads who spend their time running the thing.
  17. The laughing wasn't malicious, as if "who's that daft cunt". The lad stood up and said (chuckling himself, I might add) that he wasn't particularly anti-Ashley and some of the crowd had a titter too. Nothing really to right home about. He put his views across and that's that.
  18. God bless those fantastic lads and lasses at NUSC doing the thankless task of trying to save the club
  19. We may well be thanking Laura Ashley in 12 to 18 months time but from what i've seen both at the club and in football in general there is much more chance of effigies being burned of the fat cunt before this year is out. The fact Scudamore has managed to negotiate a new TV deal for more money during a time of recession tells me that the arse isn't about to drop out of this sport just yet. The only clubs who are going to be in real danger are ones in the Fizzy Pop leagues, the leagues we'll be playing in over the next few years. Seems to me that Ashley wanted to sell the club on for a profit, hence the ridiculous instance on clearing up even the managable chunks of debt but the global financial clusterfuck hit hard and all of a sudden he didn't have a hope in hells chance of getting rid of us. Thusly the club is suffering now.
  20. He doesn't use his pace effectively though, that's the problem. He needs the ball to his feet as well as at least two touches before he can break into a semi-sprint and at the top level you don't get that sort of time. I thought Martins was poor against Man United as was Lovenkrands. He lost the ball alot (again, down to his shite first touch) and didn't have the grey matter betwixt his lugs to find the defence splitting passes when it mattered. I thought the sheer workrate of our left wing had more to do with our performance than any other area of our team.
  21. 1. That's a load of s***. 2. That's a load of absolute s***. It's not - Firstly he's scored sixth goals this season; that's half a dozen and some of them haven't even been stormers. Secondly he's played seven games less this season than permacrock Owen. Feel free to expand your argument though and prove me wrong though. has a different partner every match (almost). no delivery and plays in a s... team! what do you expect? So has Owen, i'm sure he wasn't expecting to play alongside Andy Carroll this season. Seriously, this "Martins is better than Owen is better than Martins is better than Owen" argument is tiresome. You can only go on who does their job the best and Owen does just that. hard to say whos best of the two......i just believe martins is more important to keep here than owen when you think of.....age, injuries and ambition Bollocks. Owen is the better player. There are areas of Martins game which will not improve with age. For example, he will never have a first touch. I'd rather we had an out and out striker who scores goals as and when.
  22. 1. That's a load of s***. 2. That's a load of absolute s***. This "Martins only scores screamers and hardly any of them" business is particularly tiresome. He scores tap-ins, he scores headers, he scores typical centre forward's goals and yes, he scores the odd brilliant long ranger. It's almost as if that goal at Spurs has gone down on his record as a bad thing - only at NUFC. Not saying he doesn't score simple goals, he just doesn't do it enough if he wants to be considered a top class striker. His ability in front of goal isn't one of his main problems - his lack of pace and a footballing brain are. That's me done with this one. Played. Lack of pace go to bed and sleep it off.....your rampling! That should really read 'his inability to use his pace effectively', which has to be a key concern. Aye, he's shit hot on the training pitch but he very rarely puts that pace into use by undoing defences. It points to a lack of a footballing brain. Anyway, I wish I was 'rampling'. Sounds cool as fuck.
  23. Wanting to get rid of Keegan's signings, obviously.
