It has everything to do with it. I don't start supporting nother team if we're not playing one weekend. I wouldn't support a different club if there wasn't a Newcastle all of a sudden. And I don't care if you believe me or not.

I can go to the pub surrounded by mates who support different clubs, in different leagues watching games which have no bearing on Newcastle United whatsoever and still watch a game and enjoy it without supporting one team over the other. I don't see why that is hard to grasp or has anything to do with acting like a cunt.

What if someone said they'd start watching the Newcastle Vipers, Falcons or Eagles instead (I know a Sunderland season ticket holder who became disalusioned with football and now pours all his energy into following Durham CCC, for example - he claims this is because of the state of the game in general, not just because they were shit at the time. The problem here is that when people don't come up with the response to your post you want, it's not because they don't understand you. You mustn't have met many people then, one of my Dads mates is like that, goes to some matches, always watching games on the telly but doesn't have a favourite team. Do you not follow any football competition newcastle aren't involved in then?
