    Obafemi Martins

Owen is the much better striker when fit and receiving service. Martins is the much bigger threat on his own but not as good at the other things. It's a shit decision to have to take one off or the other since you've got much more confidence in Owen tucking away a chance, but the likelyhood of our midfield of traffic cones providing that chance means Obas inconsistent self might be the best option. But he also might completely fluff something Owen would bury.

    U23s & Academy

Been 10 minutes reading that and I still have no idea what Dave said.
  5. I think avoiding an assraping was as much as most were hoping for.
  6. Saw that too http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/manchester_united/article6031873.ece Could they pick a less flattering picture? He looks like a date rapist.
  7. Well aren't you just a bundle of sunshine
  8. And before you know it it won't be the press that's done it, but the geordie faithful that coined the term messiah. Just like we demand a top 4 finish every year and thus give managers no time - their sacking being nothing to do with being shit of course- and would rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0 because attacking football is all that matters etc etc ...
  9. What price indeed. *nods introspectively*
  10. They'd probably put his corpse in a tracksuit, string it up on the bench, and pay it 10k a week. Jesus, I'm not even joking. Weekend at Bernies style, I love it.
  11. If the assumptions bother you just wait a few months. By that time they'll have been repeated enough to be facts.

    Wise Gone

I really hope so too. Even now the details of August are unclear but the bits and pieces that sound (read: fit my agenda ) genuine all point to DL as being Head Cunt in Charge of Cuntery with Wise not nearly the villain. Or maybe it's the other way around. I just want to know too.
  13. Up at the crack of noon? Still in some kind of quiet, stunned disbelief myself. Too scared to be hopeful.
  14. Me too, but only after a sniper picks me off from my own nest overlooking a major media outlet.

    Financial meltdown?

first class contribution. Yes, it was, wasn't it? A very economical way of pointing out that anyone who believes Keegan is likely to return, or that the Keegan of today, in the football climate of today, would be likely to repeat his successes of 15 or more years ago, is living in a total fantasy world. Even Keegan knows it, as his outburst after the Chelsea match made very clear to anyone not blinded by sentiment and an inability to distinguish 2009 from 1992. no it wasn't, it was childish in the extreme, and pretty daft IMO by you, again. You are right about the need to succeed, and you are right about Keegan knowing it, but did you say this at the time, or have you cottoned on yet that Ashley - unlike his predecessors - doesn't understand what it takes to be successful ? So you think that football today is the same as it was in 1992, and that Keegan, even though he explicitly does not believe so himself, would have the same impact on a league now ruled by CL revenue and mega-investment? If so, sorry, but you're completely deluded. You're both right. He's not deluded about football in this one regard actually. It's the same now as it was then. If you want to win in football you do it through buying the best players and backing your manager. I know he didn't say this in the post but I don't think he'd deny it was what he was driving at, at least that's my guess based on prior discussion. And you're also correct. 1992 had a much smaller gap between top and bottom in terms of off the field finances and on the field ability. The intervening 18 years have seen that gulf widen and widen and widen to the point where, barring an abromovichian one off type investment, closing it is nigh impossible. The goalposts might not have moved in those 18 years, but the pitch got a lot fucking longer than 100m.
  16. Has it been on yet ? No idea if the (COMPLETELY LEGAL) net stream is lagged behind live broadcast but they just played Llambias rubbishing them.
  17. Not only to pay himself, but take a massive, massive hit on what he's owed.
  18. He looks absolutely adorable in that photo. edit: not in a gay way but more like his mom dressed him in that outfit and combed his hair and even used a little spit to try and mat his cowlick down before sending him out and telling him to do his best.
  19. Mid table consolidation.
  20. Eh, I just don't see it. They've made their bed and they're going to sleep in it. TBH though I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they have tried to get someone in behind the scenes and failed because of our situation. Even in this day and age there are more important things in football than money to some people.
