I stayed out of the end of June drama so don't know exactly what the general consensus was but I was impressed by the moves we were able to pull to get out of the trouble in such a short time without a sporting director. All the 'bad planning' or 'no planning' talk seems weird to me.

As boring as it is I think giving up that free kick isn't necessarily a bad thing. Always takes two minutes to set up everything and freekick goals are just so rare nowadays with the free jumping walls and massive Nick Pope in goal. Honestly rather give them that freekick than getting constant balls played into the box for those two minutes. Agree with the first and second part. Video should be another tool for the referee to help make the right decisions. What it shouldn't be is another referee who is too fucking scared to correct the mistakes the on-field ref has made. Every red card and penalty should be automatically checked from the video by the on-field referee to get rid of the 'clear and obvious' bullshit that just makes it 10x worse when VAR keeps guessing is that really bad enough mistake to overturn. Every red card and penalty eats couple of minutes from the clock in any case.

Think he was alright but the three lost possessions in the second half were really bad, he has to realise it's not the time for daft flicks when we've had a man sent off.
