It's always nice to see some of the smaller teams in the North East trying to better themselves. Helps the stature of the region.
-
Ha, just seen it (Pardews push injurys (PPI's) claims company advert for those that didn't).

Aye, that'd make me want to cough up a lung too.

Like Tiote would have allowed them to take him off.

Because we also believe that Mike Ashley's a chauvinist, and he's in charge. The fuck? /'inconceivable' -
Would love it to be Oba.

Pardews long list of priorities, on which The Europa Cup lies bottom of the pile: 1. The Premiership. 2. The Europa Cup. We refused to enter other competitions this year? Thanks for letting me know. Oh. I'm sorry. Are you suggesting that if Harper plays tonight, Pardew also cares more about FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Fair Play League? -

If he used the term 'applaudable apology', I think it's safe to assume that he is.

Live commentary on nutv apparently, along with extended highlights after. And...er ...Dabizas. -
Ok, has anyone got any sort of clue what the hell they are doing in the pre patch press conference vid on nutv at about 4m 40s? Bunch of loons. Presumably the prancing around ties in with the photo yesterday of John Carver jumping like a Japanese schoolgirl while Obertan looked on quizzically?

A happy medium. The board have genuine ambition to improve the team, with the minimum investment. Sorry for picking out only one part of your post, but for me it is an important point. Our team has got better and better over recent seasons so I find it pretty depressing that people still demonstrate the fear that Ashley is still just a few steps away from his old asset stripping caricature. As it stands I'd argue we are already a more exciting squad than last year. If we can hold onto our top players (and like any club, it's a valid concern that bears repeating from Pardew), and add one more to the four already through the door, I'll be absolutely delighted.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Important distinction -- and value in terms of how well the player will retain it. I remember Llambias saying something about the bottom line being, will we get our money back? Are you sure on that? I can't remember that and tbh it seems a little absurd as future profit is just about as guaranteed as future success, or future fitness. If a player can add value to the club financially or otherwise, without us paying over the odds, I can't imagine we'd simply automatically say no. -
Has he made the plane? HAS HE MADE THE PLANE!!? HAS. HE. MADE. THE. PLANE!!?!!!?!!!

Yup. -
Chelsea? Agree, though you'd hope so after ploughing £70m in. Arsenal? Unless their new strikers start to click, and Song gets replaced, they haven't (though the £10m profit may ease the boards concerns). Tottenham? Losing King, Dawson, Corluka, Kranjcar, and presumably Modric, with only Gilfi and Vertongan as new faces? Nah. Everton? Well, they still have £5m profit, so thats nice. But after one big name out, only one decent new face in - Mirallas. Good player, but strengthened more than us? Debatable. Liverpool? £30m down, and we're now running scared? Are we fuck. Fulham? Nah. Anyone else? Nah.

If we continue at our current average, I reckon we'd be right up there in the mix come the end of the season. If fact it would be hard to look beyond Champions. /keep up the good work!

How much money do you reckon you have available for transfer/wages etc? Just idle curiosity. Do you reckon you have enough to get both Carroll and Debuchy? No clue on money. All that I believe is that we are determined not to run at a loss, and even that you'd suspect has a bit of flexibility if a an incoming or outgoing deal stuck us as too tempting. I would say, barring further sales, it would be one more permanent signing (no idea who, but presumably a striker or full back), and if Carroll does return it would have to be as a loan (initially at least).
