Not one? Forget it then. Long live Roeder.

Flipping floppy arsed collar.

Yup better not go for experienced managers like that again. Or foreigners cos they were rubbish for us. Or managers like McFaul with a just a modicum of experience. You can forget them all. We need ones with no experience at all, complete novices like my mum or Shearer. My mum would never let us down. Look, I don't think anyone is saying he is not an option at a push, but to dismiss a potential Bobby Robson because Shearer could be the next Keegan is a bit nuts.

Good article. But there is a simple solution and one big step forward in the right direction cures a lot of nerves....Get a decent management team. Aye well, if only. /You wouldn't believe the caliber of manager Shepherd can attract. Prepare to be pleasently surprised!
-
Fair a place as any. Good post.

Only thing worth commenting on tbh. No, to be fair I agree with the vast majority of your post. I had much the same arguement against accepting mediocrity with Yorkie last night. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=37479.msg746372#msg746372

What about Joe Joyce? Give Roeder the reserves if you feel he is worth keeping. I still don't see any evidence of his academy revolution, just as I don't see any evidence that he would deserves the position of DOF.
-
No. /That was to your last point. His contract is up after next season. //Not that it means much. Roeder and Shepherd should go long before there are any fanciful ideas of re-employing Shearer in some capacity.

I could copy and paste it, but it is a long old piece. Suffice to say, it may be stating the obvious and maybe just reiterating what many are already saying but that is not necessarily a bad thing per se. Anyhoo it's here - http://true-faith.co.uk/html/tbawe.htm Oh, did I mention that it is a little depressing. A decent enough read, but hoo boy, keep a hankie handy. Or a punch bag.

Hate to say it Yorkie, but I find it hard to agree with a single thing you say there. "we're in an even far worse position that we were at the beginning of this season" - and this is an arguement to keep him in the job? "i'd just like to see him have another crack at the transfer window (i believe that he won't make the same mistakes again)" - and this is an arguement to keep him in the job? "get his own squad and see out his contract" - Spend the money that the next manager could have had is what you are telling us here. "There's no time limit in football, i'm prepared to wait." - You may be young, I'll forgive you this. "He's done a decent job at steadying the ship." - What does this even mean? It took Bobby three years to get us where we should have been after all. - And he had the track record, and the team looked to be heading in the right direction, etc. etc. And we won't have the distraction of Europe next year either, which will be a bonus. - Fuck me, Europe is a distraction? That is what a relegation threatened team, or a thin squad actually up there challenging for the title might at a push be forgiven for saying. For us it is the bread and butter. We need the revenue and the players and managers it attracts. No, lets forgo these silly competitions and magically build up a squad capable of challenging in Europe when we fancy having another crack, eh? Aye, that's a plan. Utter cobblers. Utter, utter cobblers. >

What, for you, has been Newcastle's WORST Premiership season?
BottledDog replied to Keefaz's topic in Football
so you think this season is worse than all the years we struggled in the 2nd division, or were relegated mackems.gif and sold Gazza and Beardsley and Waddle NE5's new single, released soon, will be a cover version of Simply Red's "Holding back the years"... *I'll keep holding on....* Tell you what. Here's a novel idea. How can where we are at the moment be worse than spending any of a number of years in the old 2nd division ? I realise it may be difficult, but try. Well, I suppose we could go even further back into history and bemoan the fact that we used to wear red and white stripes way way back when we were Newcastle West End. Indeed we could. Each to their own. Fact is though mate, there was a time when this season would have been considered a success. Thats a fact. I can't understand how someone who has witnessed those standards can consider this season to be worse. If it's a fact, then where's the link? Well, it is a fact. Many people harp on about the MacDonald days etc etc, being so good ie legendary etc, but we finished 15th in the league for 3 consecutive years. Christ fella. What the hell has this to do with the Premiership? I can forgive a lack of comprehension but once you recognise the mistake, drop it and let the thread get back to the question at hand please. whats the problem. The question is what has been Newcastles worst season ? To ME, it would be any of at least a dozen seasons where we really struggled, which certainly isn't this one. Sorry mate, the initial post specifies the Premiership and we should be decent enough to keep the opinions to within those limits. As for myself, I would at a push vote for this season. Tough choice but I'll pick it but primarily because it is the latest in an all too predictable decline, which has and will continue to become more and more difficult to turn around. -

dear old thickmick... I'd be interested in a proper response to this. /Just as I would from Shepherd if Roeder were to be sacked, as his said something similar himself.

Oh ffs. Why so bothered? Presumably because we have just moved another point further away from 6th. Unattainable given our current state of affairs, so I'm not really bothered. Sad as it makes me to say. That Wullie is ever the optimist though. Well we are as many points from 4th as we are the bottom, and that is pretty farking depressing. But with a fair chunk of games left and not a great deal of difference in points betweeen a lot of the middling teams, we could still rise up the table fairly swiftly given results (or drop even further without them). We have a reason to look out for where we could end up and still need to fight for placings, if only for the extra dosh to pay off Roeder and his goons.

Charlton Athletic 2 - 0 Newcastle United - Post match thoughts
BottledDog replied to Dave's topic in Football
"They couldn't cope with the shape of our midfield in the first half and the only disappointment was that we failed to create or convert any chances." How exactly could they not cope with us when as you say yourself - we failed to create any chances. Fucking cocksack. Edit: Moved from the thread where HTT does a Peasepud. -
Farrington - Dutch disaster has United on road to nowhere
BottledDog replied to Mick's topic in Football
Good. It's rather nice to see some supporters frustrions reflected in the local rags once in a while, and for that alone Farrington is far from a 'useless bastard'. -
No, wait. Now he is blaming a history of failure, a trait hard to shake! "It's " also, strangely enough, "been a Newcastle Glenn Roeder trait. It's unacceptable, I hate it, but that has been the truth." There, fixed it for you.

Football - it is a simple game - time to get back to basics Glenn

After over a decade of managerial failure, your suggestion that he might suddenly wake up and learn new tricks is staggeringly optimistic. -
What an fucking embarrassment the man is.
-
Utter tosh. Newcastle has consistantly spent shedloads. The manager clearly fucking matters or Souness would have walked it considering the outlay last season.
-
They certainly were. Utterly outfoxed. >

Three in a row along the edge of the box? Yup, noticed that at the time too. Hopeless.

A very fair post.
