Not in any way panicking yet. Yes we are garbage, but some of the clubs below us have as bad or worse run ins as ourselves. Lose to Sheff United and I'll get twitchy, but I cannot see us not pulling the few points we need out the bag in the remaining games. Even I have enough faith left in the squad to believe that.
-
Fine. To clear up the confusion then, what is your arguement/this threads point? That you wouldn't have swapped him/would still have him over any manager out there (or at least those on your list)?
-
And your arguement being that we should have backed Roeder for the job because, in your limited knowledge of the managerial job market, he was and presumably still is the best option? Give over. Someone asked you the other day whether you wanted Roeder to remain as manager. A simple yes or no. What was your answer?
-
So take it as a crack at the club then. I like Clarky and think he has a future, but he is not above criticism because he is in a high profile position on the staff. I take it we can't knock Roeder or Terry Mac for their dream jobs either?
-
Exactly, how can anyone judge his coaching skills, he's still an unknown quantity. Which is good enough for our reserves, is it? Probably not, no. Hope he does well, ambitious lad, but to give him that as his first proper job is a bit of a stretch.
-
Oh, and the outrageous expectation to beat bloody Man City at home with a near full squad. Well I'm very fucking sorry about that like. Cunts.
-
The top teams go mental if they don't win anything in a season, how many seasons has it been for us, yet despite getting hammered by Championship teams, being served up shite, and scoring a sum total of fuck all recently we still turn up. Expectations for fucks sake, if these idiots don't want expectations then sign for fucking Grimsby and give us all that cash back.

He was certainly working on some kind of Licence including time with Craig at Hibs. Probably the B licence with the A licence course starting in the summer, though Collins was (mis?)quoted as saying it was his A licence at the time.
-
Yay, no more mega-posts defending the fucker. Oh, I'll still defend him if I feel there is something to defend him by, just as I would with players and this isn't me saying "Roeder out" BTW. Booooooooooooooooooo. Roeder and Sheriff fat man out.
-
Nope. Calmed a situation that could have got out of control, and made a fantastic gesture to 'his people' and others on the flight by all acounts. Great to see.
-
What sort of an argument is that? "Ok so his movement is poor and his touch is poor. Imagine what would happen if they all of a sudden weren't poor!"
-
Yay, no more mega-posts defending the fucker.

I don't. Shit club, shit fans. Christ, I have no time at all for the Scouse mackems either.

I think it will be a massive surrender by Shepherd if he sacked Glenn. Despite the nonsense about him being the fans choice (although some clearly were taken in), he did make a lot of noise about this maybe being his last throw of the dice and how he must get this appointment right. Obviously it would not nessasarily mean the end of Freddy as well, but it would be a massive loss of face for him and and the pressure would have to be massive for him to make that the decision. Roeder needs to go, but we are in the situation now where there are almost no positives for the club whatever route we take. Fucking desparate state of affairs.

Did we ever get an adequate explanation for Craig's... leaving us? I remember the rumour being a falling out re Bernard but I have the memory of a goldfish, so...? No, no explaination. Possibly it was down to being forced to play Bernard but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some resentment at not continuing a role with the first team squad, something he clearly relishes at his new job alongside John Collins. This is what the club said at the time - "The club wishes to make it clear that his departure is purely down to further re-structuring of the coaching staff following several changes that have taken place during the period covering the departure of Graeme Souness and Glenn Roeder's full time managerial appointment."
-
Fair enough. I would pick you up on one thing though, if you are giving Shearer credit for last seasons fightback (of sorts), you should also do the same for recent cup winner Craig.

No, nein, non, nei, niet, नहीं, нет, Tidak boleh. No farking way. Besides the fact that it is a game of football and not an aerobics class, it is utterly cringeworthy and I can only imagine the shite the club DJ would find to pump out.

It is about time the players were held responsible and accept the blame
BottledDog replied to a topic in Football
And thats where the manager earns his corn. Its the job of the manager to motivate the players, and if he feels he doesnt have the players who will respond to him, to then bring in ones that he thinks will. Hes failed in both aspects. He takes the most responsibility with regards to the performance - this is what hes employed to do. If hes shit tactically, and shit in the transfer market, the least we can expect is him to be able to motivate his players - otherwise, why the hell is he in the job? A few of us said this about Roeder a while ago - he has no motivational skills, expecially last season when he was caretaker apart from the first game. Far too many games weve come out with absolutely no urgency, determination or hunger, except when weve played a good side and the players have motivated themselves. Roeder does fuck all motivationally, the ONLY thing he seems to be able to do is give his players a bollocking at half time, and thats normally been the only way weve had a response. Prime example last season was the derby against Sunderland. We came out for the first half looking as though we couldnt give a shit, and it took a 1-0 deficit against the Premiership's worst ever side for Roeder to get a response from his players. Absolutely. He is utterly incapable of making hard decisions, and utterly negative in his selections and tactics. Only wishing to be judged by fellow professionals and with no time for criticism from supporters, he blamed anything other than the players until finally, lacking any other excuses, absolutely hammers some sections of his team. To gee them up he threatens that they are now playing for their lives but then predictably, he elects to fill his starting 11 with his 'undroppables' who with comparatively little to prove, give yet another passionless, ineffective performance (not helped by Roeder doing fuck all on the touchline again). So who can he possibly blame this time other than himself, well the oppositions tactics of course, for having the temerity to try something something his team singularly failed to do at AZ, and well... the supporters. Get fucked Glenn. Yes, yes, the players must shoulder some element of blame, but to think that Roeder is getting too great a slice of criticism aimed at him is just yet more sympathetic cobblers. -
Who do you have in mind? We were in a much better position when SBR was appointed. It was a good club with a bad manager. Now we are a bad club with a bad manager. What's changed? The Chairman is the same, financially we are not that much worse off (Robson was hamstrung by a much tighter transfer budget in his first season compared to Roeder for starters), and the facilities are a damn sight better. A top manager and his staff can still make a hell of a difference.
-
If he had of said it I can assure you that I would have had the full text and URL tattooed on my chest for future reference. I doubt I'd have missed that one. I think it was more along the lines of he could not afford to make another mistake when it came to appointing the next manager. Seemed to have a fair hint of seriousness to his tone, and believed it to a degree at the time, but I am well aware that it is clearly easily dismissed now. Shepherd walking would be a massive shock, but I would also be amazed if he hasn't lost some of his fight after the pressure of recent let downs.
-
With Roeder as manager ? Highly possible. Whats your solution then genius? Sack him now? And then what? Pretty obvious I would have thought. Joyce, Pearson, and Solano can navigate us through to the end of the season with the help of the ubiquitous honeymoon. Meenwhile we actively negotiate with the best managerial talent accross Europe with a view to making a permanent appointment, once the appropriate candidate is freed from his current commitments. Rather delightfully the proccess would not involve Shepherd, as he said that he would step down if he go the last decision (Roeder) wrong. been waiting all night for one of the Roeder kneejerkers to remember this little gem Roeder kneejerkers? You fucking prick.

Idiotic suggestion.
